A. DUTIES:

Under general supervision, inspects, tests, adjusts, troubleshoots, calibrates, and repairs process controls when equipment is in or out of service. Works closely with station operators while making repairs and adjustments to control circuits, such duties including but not limited to:

1. Operating valves to properly cut trips and control equipment in and out of service.

2. Blowing out lines for primary metering, controls and trips using air or other fluid medium to keep lines open for proper operation.

3. Troubleshooting, testing, calibrating and repairing various types of electrical control circuits such as anal.cg, digital, or distributed control systems and protective trip or interlock circuits.

4. Repairing and adjusting various low and high pressure hydraulic and pneumatic control systems and components.

5. Installing new control equipment.

6. Working in close cooperation with employees of other departments, vendors and others for the purpose of troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying control systems and components.

7. Maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and operating plant chemical systems such as Chlorine and Bromine. Cutting tanks in and out of service when required.

8. Directing others in tests of equipment for performance, efficiency, or calibration purposes. Analyzing results of tests and making recommendations for optimum performance or repair of plant equipment.

9. Troubleshooting, repairing, and operating by manual control when necessary, the normally automatic controlled demineralizers and Reverse Osmosis Units for boiler water make-up.

10. Handling hazardous chemicals under pressure. and in bulk form; using all available safety equipment in handling these chemicals.

11. Maintaining equipment associated with radioactive devices, running tests, and calibrating as required.

12. Maintaining software changes for process control systems using devices such as programmers console, keyboard, tapes, discs, etc.

13. Troubleshooting and making repairs to controls containing higher voltages such as exciters, uninterruptible power supplies, variable speed drives, etc.

14. Verifying field-marked process control system drawings prior to their submittal for changes.

15. Troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating Stack Gas Emission monitoring equipment such as Opacity monitors and Continuous Emission Monitors.

16. Satisfactorily completing the Job Duty Checklist for this job classification within the specified time period.

17. Maintaining safe work practices utilizing all safety-related equipment, materials, and training.

18. Instructing and training employees in any classification in their work.

19. Performing similar or less-skilled work.

B. QUALIFICATIONS:

Must meet the Company's requirements as to GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS; and, in addition:

1.Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.

2.Must have associates degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from an approved school or at least 2 years' experience in Instrument & Controls and Electrical Maintenance.

3.Must maintain a valid driver's license.

4. Must have a thorough knowledge of meters, gauges, and other instruments and controls, together with associated pneumatic, hydraulic or electrical connections; and a knowledge of the tools used in their maintenance, adjustment and repair.

5. Must have a thorough working knowledge of methods used in testing, calibrating, troubleshooting and repairing instruments, controls, analyzers and other mechanisms and equipment.

6. Must have a good knowledge of electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic circuits and circuit components.

7. Must have a good understanding of principles involved in combustion of coal and fuel oil and the generation and utilization of steam.

8. Must have a good working knowledge of the steam turbines, boilers, balance of plant, and the functions of the equipment located therein.

9. Must have a thorough knowledge of the principles of operation of all water-treating equipment.

10. Must be able to understand and use manufacturers' software to maintain or alter process control systems.

11. Must be capable of directing the work of several employees in an assignment.
