JOB SUMMARY The Security Officer Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing the security operations during a designated shift, ensuring the safety and security of the organization's premises, employees, and assets. This role involves supervising a team of security officers, ensuring all security protocols are followed, and responding to incidents or emergencies as they arise. The Security Officer Shift Lead will serve as the primary point of contact for security-related concerns during their shift, providing leadership, direction, and support to team members while maintaining a high level of professionalism and alertness. Key responsibilities include managing security staff schedules, conducting routine patrols, monitoring surveillance systems, enforcing security policies, and providing guidance on emergency response procedures. The Shift Lead will be expected to maintain clear communication with management regarding any security issues, incidents, or safety concerns that arise during their shift. The Security Officer Shift Lead plays a critical role in ensuring a safe and secure environment and may assist with training and mentoring junior security officers as needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversee the activities of security officers during the assigned shift, ensuring all security protocols are followed, and that officers perform their duties efficiently and effectively.
- Perform routine patrols of the premises and monitor surveillance systems to detect any unusual or suspicious activity.
- Ensure that security measures are in place and working properly.
- Act as the primary point of contact for any security-related incidents or emergencies during the shift.
- Respond promptly to incidents, including alarms, disturbances, and breaches, and take appropriate action.
- Ensure that all security officers follow company policies and procedures, including safety regulations, emergency protocols, and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain clear and timely communication with management regarding any security concerns, incidents, or safety issues that arise during the shift.
- Ensure that security equipment (e.g., surveillance cameras, alarms, access control systems) is functioning properly. Report any malfunctions or maintenance needs to management.
- Provide detailed reports on security activities, incidents, and potential risks.
- Address and resolve any concerns related to security, ensuring a professional and courteous approach at all times.
- Provide security support based on the designated schedule produce by AAC or Wholly Owned Subsidiary (ALS).
- Follow security related SOPs.
- Investigate reported crimes.
- Participate in random drug testing program.
- Participate in company training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- In-depth understanding of security operations, including physical security systems, surveillance equipment, and emergency protocols.
- Knowledge of risk management principles, threat assessments, and strategies for mitigating potential security risks.
- Familiarity with laws, regulations, and industry standards governing security practices, including those related to workplace safety, privacy.
- Understanding of incident response procedures, crisis management, and emergency preparedness.
- Familiarity with security technologies, including CCTV systems, alarm systems, access control, and incident management software.
- Strong leadership skills to effectively manage, motivate, and develop security staff while ensuring compliance with security protocols and policies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, management, visitors, and external authorities.
- Ability to think critically and make quick, informed decisions during security incidents or emergencies, applying sound judgment under pressure.
- Skilled in managing and resolving conflicts in a calm, professional, and effective manner, ensuring minimal disruption and maintaining safety.
- Meticulous attention to detail in conducting security audits, monitoring systems, and reviewing reports to ensure compliance and security effectiveness.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach, ensuring security measures support a positive experience for employees and visitors.
- Ability to work collaboratively with management, and external stakeholders.
- Strong decision-making ability, particularly in high-pressure or emergency scenarios, with a focus on ensuring safety and compliance.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods, patrol large areas, and respond swiftly to security breaches or emergencies, as required.
- Must be able to operate in a way that is ethical, responsible, and professional.
- Ability to handle confidential information and not disclose it.
- Must be able to read a map and navigate accordingly.
- Ability to multi-task.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent - Required.
- Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) cert - Preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a security officer supervisory position.
- Experience with emergency response and crisis management.
- Experience in Security, and/or Guard, and/or Law Enforcement.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members, management, and external authorities.
- Valid state driver's license
- Must be able to perform shift work.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance (SECRET).
- Must pass drug and background screening.
