Job Highlights

The Senior Process Engineer is responsible to drive profitability and competitiveness of LANXESS production by developing and implementing optimized technical solutions that improve efficiency, increase capacity and quality, and ensure safe, stable operations-all with minimal CAPEX. Support business units with technical solutions to meet legal requirements. Provide high-level expertise in areas such as conceptual process design, fluid and solid processing, process control, modeling, and safety. Lead efficiency and growth projects, develop profitable technical solutions, and deliver process structures including flow diagrams and P&IDs. Conduct simulations for optimal parameters and heat/mass balances, design and analyze experiments, and specify reliable equipment. Develop process control strategies for operational stability, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure process safety through technical calculations. Share expert knowledge across the organization and mentor junior engineers in process engineering.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering - advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience - strong preference for chemical industry experience.
  • Broad process engineering competence and significant process engineering experience. Ability to develop process engineering solutions for most complex process systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in at least one of the following engineering disciplines:
    • Conceptual Process Design and Benchmarking: conceptual process design, process synthesis, energy efficiency projects, energy integration, pinch analysis.
    • Fluid and Solid Processing: design of distillation and absorption processes, extraction, phase separation, crystallization, filtration, drying.
    • Process Modeling and Control: mathematical modeling, process simulation includingdynamic simulation, mathematical optimization, process data analysis, development and design of process control systems, controller tuning.
    • Operation Support and Safety: process equipment design, fluid dynamics includingCFD, mixing technology, polymer technology, process and plant safety.
