Job Summary

This is the third level (fourth if Senior) of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role job classification. Engineering Technologist III provide technical expertise to solve more complex problems and leadership skills to provide oversight and direction of work in a specific area of expertise, with limited supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with a high degree of independence.

Responsibilities

• Provides deep technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise,

• Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities,

• Independently prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches,

• Conducts engineering and related studies,

• Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance,

• Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities,

• Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills,

• Maintains accurate records and files,

• Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally

Basic Qualification

Engineering Technologist III

• Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) AND three (3)+ years relevant industry experience, OR

• Associate's degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) AND five (5)+ years relevant industry experience, OR

• In lieu of degrees and experience listed above, high school diploma/GED AND nine (9)+ years equivalent experience

Senior Engineering Technologist

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) AND six (6)+ years of relevant industry experience, OR

• Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) AND eight (8)+ years of relevant industry experience, OR

• In lieu of degrees and experience listed above, high school diploma/GED AND 12+ years equivalent experience

Desired Qualifications

• Good written and oral communication skills

• Experience in the utility industry (gas, electric, petroleum, water/sewage, etc)

• Design/Engineering related experience

• Able to effectively apply basic principles of project management

Working Conditions

• Hybrid Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.

• 3 days in office; flexible

Specific Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds

• Valid driver's license
