Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is looking for a dedicated Power Plant Operator Lead to join the team. This role will be Full-time working 6am-2:30pm Monday - Friday.

Power Plant Operator Lead Job Responsibilities:



  • Oversees and assists team members in assigned functional area, which may include but not limited to, ensuring team is meeting key-deliverables and quality standards, addressing and resolving challenges, managing and tracking performance, and assisting in time management and scheduling; escalates issues to senior leaders as needed.
  • Provides guidance to ensure Power Plant employees are aware of and adhere to Power Plant standard operating procedures.
  • Brings to the attention of the Shop Supervisor, employee matters in regard to compensation, work assignments, working conditions, and other employee concerns or complaints.
  • Assists in the selection process for hiring employees, training, and evaluation of employee effectiveness and identify variances from expected norms.
  • Leads the maintenance and repair the Power Plant building and the mechanical equipment contained therein to ensure provision of uninterrupted utilities to the hospital; Inspect, analyze and repair heating equipment, cooling equipment, pneumatic equipment, and systems in the Power Plant to ensure hospital operations with minimum interruptions.
  • Oversee and perform chemical analysis and adjust chemicals to maintain to ensure quality control of Power Plant Operations; Maintain a knowledge of Power Plant chemicals used in the plant to control the acidity of water or to reduce the chance an infectious disease contaminating the utilities systems. Provides evidence of compliance for county and JCAHO inquiries.
  • Assists in the programming, ordering and control of resources to meet the needs of the hospital and its patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Assists in developing an annual operating program accomplish the Power Plant mission; Identifies material and equipment needs to sustain Power Plant operations to include fuel oil and diesel fuel; Orders materials within approval limitations established by the Plant Supervisor.
  • Trains the Power Plant Operators in the proper maintenance and operation of the Power Plant equipment to minimize interruptions of utilities to the hospital; Assists in the development of a training program to ensure that Power Plant personnel possess the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the requirements of the plant; Trains the shop personnel to pass annual competencies pertaining to Power Plant maintenance and equipment repairs; Maintain and submit documentation of employee training.
  • May perform other job duties as assigned.



Power Plant Operator Lead Additional Requirements:



  • Work schedule: Full-time working 6am-2:30pm Monday - Friday.
  • Education: High School education with additional vocational training in mechanics required.
  • Experience: 2 years experience in a hospital power plant serving buildings exceeding 2,500,000 square feet required.
