The Position

As a Principal Technical Program Manager at Genentech, you will drive the execution of complex, large-scale, cross-functional projects in the physical security domain. You'll leverage your deep technical acumen to orchestrate security system design and implementation, streamline cross-team collaboration, and deliver world-class, scalable physical security solutions. Your work will be pivotal in ensuring project excellence from concept through completion, partnering with internal stakeholders and external integrators to uphold Genentech's security standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enforce compliance with physical security system standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.

  • Define and capture comprehensive system design requirements, project scope, budgets, and timelines.

  • Lead and align cross-functional teams, external integrators, and service providers toward successful project outcomes.

  • Manage and prioritize multiple, simultaneous security initiatives across various business units and campuses.

  • Monitor and report on project performance using concise, executive-level dashboards and metrics.

  • Maintain and evolve the Physical Security System Master Specification Standards to reflect best practices and innovation.

  • Design and deliver comprehensive end-to-end training programs for software, systems, and process workflows-from intake to operational handover.

  • Facilitate and lead recurring coordination meetings with Operations teams to ensure alignment and timely delivery.

  • Partner with stakeholders to define project requirements, assess risks, and execute project roadmaps with precision and clarity.

  • Scale and optimize physical security programs through strategic planning, resource allocation, and milestone tracking.

  • Architect and implement robust security solutions, integrating software and hardware with a focus on operational excellence.

  • Coordinate effectively across diverse teams, setting clear expectations and maintaining accountability with internal and external collaborators.

  • Apply deep design and architectural expertise to develop innovative, scalable technical solutions with Security Operations teams.

  • Oversee seamless handover of security systems to Service and Operations for sustained performance and support.

  • Navigate complex organizational structures, prioritize competing demands, and drive cross-boundary collaboration

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.

  • 15+ years of experience in engineering and delivering advanced physical security systems.

  • 10+ years of leadership experience, influencing senior stakeholders with strategic insight and professionalism.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience deploying Genentech's integrated security platform across large-scale environments.

  • Proven expertise in converging access control, digital video surveillance, identity and incident management, and AI-enhanced analytics.

  • Exceptional communicator with demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder expectations.

  • Proficient in developing and executing complex programs with strong organizational and technical problem-solving skills.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to influence outcomes and drive results across technical and business domains.

  • Self-motivated and capable of operating autonomously in fast-paced environments

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $136,100 - $252,700 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
