JOB SUMMARY UT Southwestern is seeking an experienced Senior Painter, with journeyman-level skills as a commercial painter within a hospital or commercial institution work environment; five (5) years of solid work experience minimum; effective communication, customer service, and detail-oriented skills. This position works under direct supervision to perform skilled work in painting. Work Location: Zale Lipshy Facility; assist other UTSW locations as needed. Shift Requirement: 7:30am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday

5 years skilled or journeyman level experience as painter in a commercial, institution or healthcare setting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Applies paints, varnishes, shellacs, enamels, or other finishes.
- As needed, acts as a Lead on assigned jobs.
- Assists in determining and maintains time and material records for each job.
- Cleans and cares for brushes, rollers, and spray guns.
- Coordinates the workflow of other painters.
- Determines and selects the types of tools and materials to be used in various assignments.
- Erects scaffolding when necessary, and spreads cloths over floor and furniture to protect from splattered paint.
- Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with putt, plaster, or other filler.
- Keeps track of paper work, time sheets, safety, meetings, and work orders.
- Matches color of paints and stains for jobs.
- May install and repair vinyl cove base.
- May repair vinyl, ceramic, and carpet tiles.
- Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.
- Paints and performs sheetrock repairs, VCT, and carpet repairs.
- Performs duties of supervisor in their absence.
- Prepares surfaces for paint, using sandpaper, steel wool, wire brushes, or paint remover.
- Removes splattered paint upon completion of job.
- Selects premixed paint or matches paint to specified colors.
- Works with departments from the initiation and finalization of a job(s).
