PURPOSE

  • Leads the Cost Control team in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) to meet the Business Unit's objectives and goals, while ensuring effective and accurate budgeting, tracking and forecasting of Facilities and Operations projects.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs the activities of the Cost Control team, and ensures qualified resources are available for Operations and Facilities Project support
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and adherence of cost control and financial reporting processes and standards
  • Assists in the facilitation and preparation of the annual budget, and 2-year plan for Facilities Capital, ARO and Project Opex
  • Ensures monthly reforecast of the financial 2-year plan is in line with each Project and/or Asset schedule and can effectively communicate any variance over the prior month forecast
  • Supports the review and preparation of accurate cost estimates as needed to sanction a project with all required stakeholders
  • Coordinates and oversees the development of individual Project AFE's, and subsequent monthly financial reporting including approved budget, actuals, commitments, accruals, forecast, variance analysis, and project change management
  • Demonstrates ability to integrate and coordinate work within discipline and across collaborative work teams
  • Understands Project Management principles, and adheres to standard Project Management Guidelines where applicable to project controls
  • Proactively encourages and supports Continuous Improvement initiatives and development opportunities for cost control and financial reporting
  • Responsible for performance reviews

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Cost Control and Financial Reporting, offshore GOM Operations and Major Project experience preferred
  • Held supervisory or managerial positions in project controls relative to cost control and financial reporting
  • Proficient knowledge of SAP Financials and Materials Management modules
  • Advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Requires a broad technical knowledge of project controls
  • Must understand standard accounting practices
  • Strong team player with problem solving capabilities and the ability to manage a broad spectrum of business activities under stressful conditions
  • Effective communication skills - listening, verbal and written
  • Responsible and accountable for working to high performance standards
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Construction or Business.
