Purpose of Position
The Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) is a key leadership role on the Finance team. This position helps lead financial analysis efforts for FlightSafety International Defense (FSID) in support of strategic and tactical decision making by functional leaders and the Senior Leadership Team. This position is responsible for managing and overseeing the forecasting, development pipeline deals and financial return analysis.
Tasks and Responsibilities
The following duties are essential to the successful and satisfactory performance of this job. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manages and prepares reports, analysis, and forecasts for assigned functional groups
- Performs variance analysis to determine differences in actual results vs the forecast or budget
- Performs financial analysis on potential projects and/or capital purchases
- Ensures FSI Defense adheres to Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) in compliance and reporting. Prepares financial reports and disclosures that meet regulatory requirements
- Manages costs & overheard rates and consults on proposal bids to remain competitive while maintaining profitability
- Proactively monitors trends to identify risks and opportunities across key expense categories
- Establishes benchmarks to assist leadership in managing the fiscal discipline of their functions
- Drives operational improvement and influences cost containment efforts across functional areas
- Develop cash flow analysis for new business opportunities
- Acts as an advisor to FlightSafety functional leaders in the areas of operations, general & administrative functions, business development, and simulator management
- Oversees and manages the analysis, interpretation and communication of trends and issues requiring leadership's attention
- Understands constituent needs/issues and develops actionable reporting tools, processes, and work-product
- Presents solutions and timelines to functional leaders and the Senior Leadership Team
- Prepares deal analysis and options in partnership with the Growth team
- Implements, monitors, and enforces proper financial controls
- Builds and manages a high-performing Finance team; provides feedback & coaching to help team develop professionally and grow their skills
Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
Minimum Experience
- 6 years relevant experience, including experience working in federal contracting
- Relevant experience with government contracting specific tools such as Cobra, ProPricer, or Deltek (Cospoint)
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Strong FAR, particularly Part 15 understanding
- Ability to anticipate accounting, financial reporting and operational issues, asses their implications, determine their impact and develop and implement an appropriate action plan.
- Strong working knowledge of financial systems, statements, and reports.
- Experience reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Ability to act in a collaborative, team-oriented environment focused on common goals to achieve mutually beneficial results.
- Ability to take an ill formed project and run with it.
- Ability to manage workloads across multiple competing priorities and time-sensitive initiatives.
- Ability to build rapport as a strategic partner, vertically within the business unit, as well as with senior leadership and other functional teams.

- Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead a team of Finance professionals
- Travel when required
