We Require
Three years of experience with victim advocacy, social work, crisis intervention, and/or a closely related field that includes case management experience Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a closely related field
We Also Value
Supervisory and/or lead experience Experience working in a criminal justice system and/or public service experience working in a victim/advocate related capacity Bilingual skills in English/Spanish language. Completed courses related to supervisory skills and best practices
Job Contributions
Supervise the daily activities under their direction, review, and assign cases to the assigned Advocate and/or Victim Services staff Manage large, complex caseloads and document and present findings Assist in the recruitment and training of Advocate staff Manage personnel issues such as coaching, mentoring, and disciplinary actions Gather information and write weekly and monthly reports based on statistical information and staff accomplishments Provide information on the criminal justice system and on victims' legal rights and protections according to the Arizona Constitution: Article II, Section 2.1, the Arizona Revised Statutes (A.R.S.) * 13-4400 through 13-4439 and (A.R.S.) * 8-381 through 8-421 Provide crisis intervention response, information, resources, and referrals to social service agencies for victims and perform other duties as assigned Provide court accompaniment and/or attend court proceedings with or on behalf of a victim Research case status using numerous computer databases, in person, or by phone Participate in committees and/or work on special projects as directed by the supervisor Carry out the mission and vision of the division under the direction of the Division Chief
Working Conditions
The position requires alternating long periods of sitting while completing computer activities and paperwork, standing and moving about while performing duties at current or other County locations This position may include exposure, visual and auditory, to traumatic, disturbing, or sensitive subject matter (crime scenes, accidents, etc.) Ability to travel to and from various County locations utilizing personal or County-owned vehicles Ability to move up to 20 pounds from floor to waist and push/pull up to 20 pounds a distance of up to 100 feet A hybrid work schedule can be considered after your first 6 months of employment. This is based on the business needs at the time of the request Must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire, a valid Arizona Driver's License The Maricopa County Attorney's Office requires a thorough background check of all successful candidates and is authorized to test prospective employees for the presence of illegally accessed drugs. Drug testing is conducted once an offer has been extended and before placement
