Job Summary

The Business Systems Analyst 3 is an experienced professional who knows how to apply theory and put it into practice, with an in-depth understanding of the professional field related to IT Implementations.

The incumbent independently performs a full range of responsibilities within the function; possesses broad job knowledge; and is able to analyze problems/issues of a diverse scope, and determine a solution; applies skills as an experienced professional with a full understanding of industry-wide best business practices, along with UCDH organizational policies and procedures. The incumbent evaluates and resolves a wide range of business process issues of moderate to complex scope and demonstrates good judgement in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions.

This position involves technology-based analysis of business practices, processes, and problems related to IT Facilities involvement in FP&D construction projects. Develops solutions which may involve process design and policy or procedural changes; create specifications for processes and/or systems to meet requirements; validate requirements against needs; planning and executing unit integration and/or end-user acceptance testing; and may develop training materials all as they relate to IT Facilities construction project implementation.

Incumbent is responsible for requirements development and for providing suggestions/design for technology to satisfy business needs for IT Facilities/Implementations as a part of FP&D and Planning projects. The incumbent independently performs a full range of responsibilities within the function; possesses broad job knowledge; analyzes problems and/or issues of diverse scope and determines solutions. Applies advanced business analysis concepts to identify, evaluate and define highly complex system scopes and objectives based on advanced knowledge of IT Facilities and IT Implementations practices, processes, and systems along with industry standards to meet end-user needs related to FP&D and Planning projects. Works at a high technical level throughout various phases of project, request, and systems analysis and considers the business implications of applying technology to the current and future business environment.

The incumbent assesses existing data, applications, infrastructure, equipment, workflows, and technology to analyze functionality, efficiency, and productivity, and then assists IT Implementations/Facilities with design, development, and implementation solutions as part of a remodel and/or construction project to align business requirements. The incumbent must have an equal mix of technical knowledge and business acumen. Incumbent must have the ability to identify both business and technical situations, evaluate the needs, and identify potential solutions. This business analyst is responsible for project planning, budgeting, procurement, scheduling/calendaring and drafting detailed plans and/or technical documentation and be able to take the information gathered and export the information to create metrics, dashboards, and other analytical documents to assist with reporting to IT leadership. Incumbent will also work in conjunction with the IT Facilities project managers to assist with project support, scheduling, and calendaring.

In addition, the Business Systems Analyst acts as a liaison for IT Implementations between the business customer, other UCDH departments and IT Facilities technical teams. This role is critical to identifying and driving improvements and efficiency initiatives as it relates to IT Facilities support of Planning and FP&D construction projects, fostering both intra- and inter-team communication and cooperation.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and/or equivalent experience / training
  • 3 or more years of experience as a business or systems analyst, leading large-scale IT initiatives and/or projects
  • 3 or more years of experience with process and systems analysis
  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to effectively and meet deadlines. Demonstrates problem solving skills
  • Understanding and skill in complex process and systems requirement documentation and standards
  • Demonstrated skills needed to efficently develop process and system implementation plans, using common flowchart standards; ability to map out complex processes (after 1-2 meeting sessions with customers) as clear as possible so that the process under review can be readily understood by almost anyone, even somone unfamiliar with the process.
  • Advanced skills and methodologies associated with process design, modification and implementation
  • Advanced knowledge relating to the design of processes and metrics software
  • Advanced knowledge of related areas of IT Facilities and IT Infrastructure
  • Advanced knowledge of business and process analysis functions

Preferred Qualifications

  • College degree or experience in computer science, business administration or related discipline with an information technology focus
  • 3 to 5 years of experience with technical and process development, and systems analyst methodologies and practices, including traditional waterfall, Agile, Agile Scrum, etc.
  • Experience with developing test strategies, plans, schedules, and work breakdown structures to ensure testing coverage
  • Demonstrated skills needed to synthesize information into succint, concise and logical summaries and reports
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance (QA) methodologies; demonstrated testing and test planning skills
