Job Summary

TheManager, Emergency Logistics within the Emergency Preparedness & Response department will be responsible for strategic planning, development and execution of logistics functions in emergency preparedness and response such as supplies, equipment, facilities, and personnel. The incumbent will be a subject matter expert in logistics and emergency management with demonstrated experience providing project implementation. This position is responsible for understanding and implementing complex company-wide initiatives that are technical in nature and impact every aspect of CenterPoint Energy's business.

Essential Functions




  • Demonstratedability to implement and maintain complex logistics processes and procedures for emergencies aligned with national standards and industry best practices.


  • Exercises discretion on complex problems including providing guidance to other team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross disciplinary teams with electric and gas operations, supply chain, procurement, finance, information technology systems, and others to develop efficient and timely logistics management pre-emergency and during an emergency.
  • Establishes relationships with turn-key providers, trade associations, and other critical infrastructure and emergency partners on essential logistical areas prior to emergencies and supports those same relationships during events.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a comprehensive end-to-end logistics process from preparedness initiatives and actions to emergency response and restoration.
  • Develop and implement long-term logistics strategies to support the company's readiness needs, ensuring logistical operations align with electric and gas operational requirements and readiness goals.
  • Serves as subject matter expert in area of responsibility.
  • Routinely interacts with leaders across the company.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and direction to staff to assure appropriate projects are developed, implemented, and maintained according to project scope.
  • Implements and maintains logistics processes and procedures in accordance with National Incident Management (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS) principles.
  • Evaluates and implements innovative solutions of unusually complex issues that are long term in nature and typically have major safety, financial and operational impacts on key business unit and Company objectives.
  • Responsible for implementing program goals, project plans, budgets, and schedule.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • 24/7 availability to support emergency operations and disasters.
  • Ensures duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations.



Education Description




  • Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.





Experience




  • 5 or more years of logistics experience or combination of education and training.



  • 5 or more years of project management experience.



  • Demonstrated experience in establishing and leading new initiatives that introduce cross organizational change.





Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's)




  • Knowledgeof the laws and regulations governing emergency management.


  • Understanding of the electric and natural gas utility industry.
  • Ability to implement a vision and strategy that integrates the needs of various business lines into an integrated corporate view.
  • Experience in creating metrics to monitor the effectiveness of new processes to meet the company mission.
  • Skill in both verbal and written communication.
  • Experience in crafting, editing, proofreading detailed reports to convey technical real-time information to an executive audience. In addition to experience writing/creating processes, procedures, and guidelines for detailed operational tasks.
  • Experience coordinating with teams through stressful circumstances including during emergencies / crisis.
