Sr. Tax Manager

SUMMARY
Manages a tax function or geographical area, under broad
direction of the Director - Corporate Tax. Actively manages personnel,
activities and deadlines in support of financial and/or statutory reporting
processes, account reconciliations and supporting financial pronouncements, and
tax technical research, as applicable. Responsibilities include, but are
not limited to, review of income and franchise tax returns, review of sales
& use and property taxes, review of quarterly and annual income tax
provision under US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards. May also manage
functions and responsibilities of Tax Manager(s) and their respective staff as
directed by the Director - Corporate Tax, include but not limited to, tax
planning and support to international tax team. Prepares/reviews
technical memoranda in support of tax technical positions taken in financial
statements and statutory tax filings. Supports SOX compliance and
provides assistance with both internal and external tax and accounting audits.
Responsible for the career development and coaching of direct reports.
Under direction of the Director - Corporate Tax, assists with the career
development and coaching of direct and indirect reporting line personnel in the
Corporate Tax Department.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversight
    of functional Tax Manager(s) responsible for managing one or more of the
    federal, state, international tax accounting, tax planning, tax reporting,
    and tax compliance processes of a geographical area
  • Reviews federal, state, and international tax returns
  • Reviews current and deferred income tax accruals under IFRS
    and US GAAP accounting standards
  • At the direction of the Director - Corporate Tax,
    manages/assists with audit defense
  • Reviews quarterly and annual Accounting Standards
    Codification (ASC) 740-10 (Income Taxes) calculations
  • Reviews quarterly and annual ASC 718-10 (Stock
    Compensation) calculations
  • Reviews effective tax rate calculations
  • Reviews tax footnotes to the US GAAP and IFRS financial
    statements
  • Reviews return to provision adjustments (true-up
    calculations)
  • Reviews tax reporting data received from foreign locations
  • Reviews reports generated from Tax Provision and Tax
    Compliance Software applications
  • Reviews tax clauses contained in bids/tenders
  • Oversees documentation and registration processes for
    contracts in international locations
  • Coordinates tax support for the U.S. and international
    locations
  • Must be familiar with the tax laws and regulations in the
    jurisdictions in which the company operates and keep current on
    changes/developments
  • Ensures tax processes comply with SOX requirements
  • Oversees the development / maintenance of processes and
    procedures to ensure compliance with the company's global transfer pricing
    policies
  • Ensures that general ledger tax accounts are reconciled and
    that work paper files support the account balances
  • Reviews research and presents conclusions on technical tax
    issues as required
  • At the direction of the Director - Corporate Tax, oversees
    the management and development of staff (Tax Managers and lower levels)
  • Coordinates special projects as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Bachelor's
    degree in Accounting or Finance (Master's degree in Tax or LLM in Tax
    preferred)
  • Minimum 10 years of
    public accounting and/or corporate tax experience
  • Certified Public
    Accountant license or eligible candidate
  • Experience with U.S.
    consolidated tax return regulations, ASC 740 and SOX compliance
  • Experience with U.S. and
    international tax issues preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS &
ATTRIBUTES

  • Good verbal and written
    knowledge of English
  • Ability to perform basic
    mathematical calculations (e.g. add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all
    units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to calculate
    figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, and
    percentages)
  • Basic computer skills
    (MS Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
