Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Office of Emergency Management and Planning is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining disaster planning and preparedness for the University performed within the five mission areas of emergency management (prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery) to provide for the safety and well-being of all university stakeholders. This includes comprehensive planning, training, and exercise programs aimed to enhance the university's ability to manage large-scale and/or multi-agency incidents or events that affect the
UNC campus. |
Position Summary |
The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support for the Director of Emergency Management and Planning and other staff within the Department; assist in developing Emergency Management plans, operating procedures, and reports; and provide financial management. The Administrative Support Specialist is responsible for various administrative and office support duties, including processing and application of information, documents and/or materials, reconciling data, records management, and maintenance of contact lists. This position reports to the Director of Emergency Management and Planning. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Strong interpersonal skills including being comfortable in dealing with all levels of
UNC and other stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task. Skilled with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong planning and organizational skills. Position is designated as an Emergency Management Official and Essential Staff, and is subject to recall during campus emergencies, and/or Condition 2 or 3 status due to adverse conditions. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Experience working with financial and budgetary information; event planning experience; experience in data analysis and reporting. Experience in providing administrative support. |
