What you will do

You will be responsible for the implementation of the plant environmental management system. This includes compliance with applicable regulations, promoting pollution prevention and waste reduction, training employees, and reducing the plant's overall impact on the environment.

Additionally, you will focus on reducing work-related injuries by continuously improving the environmental management system. You will lead cultural change by demonstrating exceptional leadership and engaging employees at all levels. Your responsibilities also include the implementation of environmental programs, employee training, compliance monitoring, maintaining reporting mechanisms, and managing accidents and impacts to the property.

How you will do it

  • Engage the entire workforce - both salary and hourly - to drive cultural change and achieve environmental performance objectives and targets.

  • Ensure environmental compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements and JCI corporate environmental systems and act as the lead contact with regulatory agencies.

  • Perform incident investigations for any type of adverse environmental impact, using a formal process with the focus on root cause, corrective and preventive actions and verification.

  • Provide effective training for all environmental programs including, but not limited to, SWP3, (Storm Water Pollution & Prevention Plan), SPCC (Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure), RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act).

  • Evaluate the safety management system for its effectiveness and maintain documented continuous improvement plans to improve environmental performance.

  • Develop and implement motivational and incentive programs that promote a high degree of environmental awareness and enthusiasm to support an environmentally safe work site.

  • Perform and ensure compliance with industrial hygiene testing and other requirements to ensure a safe work environment.

  • Review planned changes and new equipment installations prior to receipt utilizing the Management of Change (MOC) process. Approve or recommend changes in manufacturing and engineering matters of plant layout, location/relocation of machinery, equipment, facilities, safety designs and processes that may impact our environmental stewardship.

  • Help sustain the corporate environmental management system. Collect environmental data for use in determining root-causes of compliance problems and pollution prevention opportunities. Implement proactive corrective items.

  • Complete and submit applicable environmental reports in a timely fashion (such as Tier II, TRI Form R, Generator's Residual Waste, City of Norman Water Discharge reports, and Waste-Water Self-Monitoring).

  • Record and maintain spreadsheets containing all paint booth, fin press and parts washer chemical usage.

  • Assist with the administration, implementation and compliance with the ISO14001 and 45001 EHS Management System (acts as the plant management representative).

  • Oversee hazardous and non-hazardous waste programs including ensuring the correct handling, packaging, labeling, storage and transportation of waste to approved treatment and/or disposal facilities.

  • Coordinate air emission, wastewater, storm water and waste testing.

  • Investigating environmental process to reduce waste and support more efficient recycling methods.

  • Ensuring all environmental impacts and processes are being tracked on our Environmental Sustainability and Governance (ESG) platform.

  • Drive Environmental Performance throughout the plant.

  • All other duties assigned.

What we look for

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or Occupational Health and Safety is required

  • 3-5 years of working experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience in the following fields: RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act), SWP3 (Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan), PSM (Process Safety Management), Tier II, Form R, SPCC (Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure), Wastewater Discharge permitting and compliance

  • Possess or pursuing one or more of the following: ASP (Associate Safety Professional), CSP (Certified Safety Professional), and/or CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager)
