Job Description

Opportunity at a Glance

Adtalem Global Education is a national leader in post-secondary education and a leading provider of professional talent to the healthcare industry. You will be a key technology leader for 300,000+ students and 10,000 employees, across 5 institutions and 27 campus locations.

As the Senior Manager, Student Information Systems (SIS) and Learning Technologies, you will be responsible for overseeing the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the Ellucian Banner system and other Learning Technologies including but not limited to Canvas, Degreeworks, Medtrics, etc. You will lead a team of IT professionals, manage system lifecycle, oversee projects, and provide strategic guidance to align our technology initiatives with the overall business goals.

Responsibilities

  • People/Talent Leadership:
    • Lead, motivate, and inspire a team of IT professionals, including hiring, training, and performance management.
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages teamwork and knowledge sharing.
    • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to team members to support their professional growth.
  • Operational Leadership:
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Ellucian Banner and student information systems, ensuring stability, security, and reliability.
    • Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
    • Monitor system performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement necessary changes to optimize operations.
    • Manage IT budgets, track expenses, and manage resource allocations.
    • Ensure the integration and interoperability of Ellucian Banner with other Learning Technologies and institutional applications.
    • Coordinate with Product Owners and Institutional departments to understand their needs to ensure the systems support their functions effectively.
    • Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Financial Leadership:
    • Understand the organization's financial processes. Prepare, justify, and administer the budget.
    • Oversee procurement and contracting to achieve desired results. Monitor expenditures and use cost-benefit thinking to set priorities.
    • Focus on value creation for Adtalem, including cost management and business results.
  • Technical Leadership:
    • Develop and implement a strategic technology roadmap aligned with the organization's business objectives.
    • Evaluate emerging technologies, trends, and industry developments to identify opportunities for innovation and competitive advantage.
    • Provide recommendations on technology investments, upgrades, and enhancements to support business growth and efficiency.
    • Stay abreast of security threats and implement measures to safeguard data and systems.
    • Lead the development and implementation of new features and functionalities within the student information systems to enhance user experience and operational efficiency.
    • Ensure data integrity and accuracy within the student information systems.
  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Collaborate with executive management and other senior leaders to align IT initiatives with business objectives.
    • Communicate IT strategies, projects, and progress to stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
    • Build and maintain relationships with external vendors, service providers, and technology partners.
    • Develop and execute strategies to improve student information system processes and workflows, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the institution.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Required)
  • Master's Degree (Preferred)
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, PMP) are a plus.

Work Experience

  • 5+ years of proven experience in IT management, including team leadership and project management (Required)
  • 5+ years of demonstrated success in managing complex IT projects, overseeing larger teams, and dealing with higher-level strategic responsibilities (Required)
  • 5+ years of experience in diverse areas of IT, such as infrastructure management, enterprise software implementation, cybersecurity, or digital transformation (Required)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of higher education business processes, project management/planning, and time management.
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of Ellucian Banner and Learning Technologies.
  • Technical knowledge of the following Learning Technologies including but not limited to Ellucian Banner, Degreeworks, Eprint, Medtrics, EDapt. and Canvas is desired.
  • Working Experience with Agile, Scaled Agile, and PI Planning ceremonies for technical delivery.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Extensive programming and business analysis experience with Ellucian Banner 8 and 9.
  • Working knowledge of PL/SQL objects with robust error handling.
  • Working knowledge of data feeds, REST API's, and integration between SIS\Learning Technologies and other systems.
  • Experience with Banner systems including Banner Job Submission, posting, data imports, data exports, baseline and modified C Programs, shell scripts, and other Banner-related processes.
  • Experience with SOA, XML, XSLT, PL/SQL, BPEL, ESP, Oracle Database.
  • Ability to collaboratively identify potential solutions and effectively communicate benefits.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with teams, peers, and clients.
  • Motivation to contribute to a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality of performance.
Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $80336.75 and $140851.54. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
