SUMMARY: The primary responsibility is the procurement of indirect goods and services used by the manufacturing facility. The SR Buyer will have the authority to procure goods and services using company funds in the most effective and efficient manner conducting business according to Tenneco's highest standards of Ethics and Values. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree Business or Supply Chain or equivalent certifications from college or technical school in a related function; and/or three or more years of related experience in a manufacturing environment preferred LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and write English. Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: High Level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Ability to adapt to new software and upgrades. Must be independently motivated and a self-starter. Must have demonstrated follow-through skills. Must be able to maintain all information in the Human Resources office on a confidential basis. Working knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems a plus.
