Description
Job purpose The Service Technician - Class A will repair and overhaul industrial natural gas engines in the shop as assigned by the Service Manager. Duties and responsibilities
- Must be able to perform shop overhauls.
- Must be able to perform small generator repairs.
- Must be able to perform standby generator repair.
- Must be able to perform generator troubleshooting.
- Understands compressions and can-do repairs.
- Understands pneumatic engine controls.
- Understands all phases of gas engine ignition systems.
- Must understand general engine machine work fundamentals.
- Stay informed of the changes in various models of equipment.
- Through evaluation must be able to suggest/recommend any other required repairs.
- Promote good welfare among the company and its visions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have 3 year(s) previous experience.
- Must have G.E.D. High School Diploma, prefer applied certification (s) job description.
- Certification in WED VHP technology and VGF technology preferred.
- Must meet all of the qualifications of a Service Tech Class B.
- Must have basic electrical knowledge.

- Must have a current driver's license and acceptable driving record per WPI insurance carrier standard if driving a company vehicle. (ONLY IF JOB REQUIRES)
- Must be able to pass and maintain drug and alcohol testing requirements as outlined by the Department of Transportation. (ONLY IF JOB REQUIRES)
- Must be computer literate, a Windows-based environment preferred (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).
- Must be dependable and able to work independently.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to bend and twist several times a day.
- Must have the ability to work flexible hours and days.
- Must maintain good client relations.
- Must maintain a professional appearance.
- Must promote and maintain a clean, neat, and safe work environment.
- Must have the ability to travel and stay overnight.
- Must possess troubleshooting skills.
- Must have the ability to effectively operate basic shop equipment.
- Must have the ability to obtain advanced manufacturing certifications.
- Must protect the company assets and interests.
Working Conditions:
- Typical hours of work Monday through Friday; 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Weekend hours as necessary.
- Outside work as required.
