Overview
Do you like to work with numbers? Have a good eye for detail? Enjoy working with budgets & spreadsheets? Then the Department for Children and Families' Budget Unit may be just the place for you! We are looking for a new member to join our close-knit budget team in the DCF business office. This position will be the budget analyst for multiple departments preparing monthly expenditure & revenue projection spreadsheets and will meet with divisional & business office management to provide expenditure and projection overview in relation to the budget. This position will have responsibility and oversight for general ledger accuracy and completeness of the appropriations they oversees, including verification of the program and department ID codes for staff, grants, contracts, other expenses and to include coding agreements. This position will also perform adjusting & correcting entries as necessary. This position does not supervise and there is the opportunity for a hybrid (in office/remote) schedule. This position, Financial Manager I (Job Requisition #52557), is open to all State employees and external applicants. AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. Work is performed in a standard office setting. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a bachelor's degree in any discipline that includes or is supplemented by 20 credit hours in accounting AND two (2) years or more of professional level accounting, budgeting, fiscal auditing, fiscal analysis, federal program fiscal administration or other professional level fiscal operations experience which has included experience managing programs, funding sources or staff. OR Bachelor's degree in any discipline AND four (4) years or more of professional level accounting, budgeting, fiscal auditing, fiscal analysis, federal program fiscal administration or other professional level fiscal operations experience which has included experience managing programs, funding sources or staff. OR Associate's degree AND six (6) years or more of professional level accounting, budgeting, fiscal auditing, fiscal analysis, federal program fiscal administration or other professional level fiscal operations experience which has included experience managing programs, funding sources or staff. OR High School diploma AND eight (8) years or more of professional level accounting, budgeting, fiscal auditing, fiscal analysis, federal program fiscal administration or other professional level fiscal operations experience which has included experience managing programs, funding sources or staff. OR One year as a Financial Administrator III with the State of Vermont. OR Certification as a CPA. For some positions preference may be given to applicants with supervisory or management experience.
