Introduction

Loudoun County is seeking an energetic, highly organized, compliance-driven, experienced administrative professional to join our team and play a key role in revamping the administrative management function for our new Youth Services Department (services previously part of the Juvenile Court Service Unit). The department aims to facilitate a top continuum of care for local at-risk youth and emerging adults through programs emphasizing healthy and responsible behavior, personal accountability, family involvement, and community support.


Job Summary

Reporting to the Department Director, successful candidates will have a strong background in supervising administrative employees and managing various support functions such as, but not limited to, financial management, human resources, and other assigned activities to help provide for the provision of efficient, courteous, and timely customer service to internal and external customers. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

* Providing administrative support as necessary to the Department Director.
* Managing multiple demands and maintaining a professional demeanor.
* Exercising professional care with confidential records and information.
* Working with department leadership to update and manage the department's standard operating procedures.
* Responding to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and coordinating and tracking compliance and completion of FOIA requests as necessary.

We are seeking an individual with:
* Knowledge of administrative and budget management practices and procedures, business English, spelling, and mathematics.
* Ability to communicate concisely and effectively, orally and in writing.
* Ability to develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships as a manager and with the department's leadership.
* Ability to prioritize deadlines and to re-prioritize as needed.
* Ability to organize information and prepare clear, comprehensive, and concise reports in a timely fashion.
* Ability to supervise, guide, mentor, and evaluate assigned employees.
* Ability to work well independently.
* Proficiency using Microsoft 365 Office applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Word) and Adobe Sign or DocuSign.


Minimum Qualifications

* Associate's degree; three (3) years of related administrative work experience in a business or government setting, including one (1) year of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Additional Qualifications
* Certified Administrative Professional preferred.
* Virginia State Notary Public Certificate preferred.
