PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Senior Interior Designer for Healthcare is responsible for providing design support and consulting on projects for our healthcare clients focusing on both hospital and clinical applications. This position requires translating Steelcase research and insights into meaningful and thoughtful product application solutions that solve both patient and client needs by creating healing spaces and administrative spaces that are engaging, inspiring, and tailored to project goals. As part of the design team, the healthcare designer may also be involved in other market segments including, but not limited to corporate, education, and hospitality environments.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist or act as lead Designer on assigned projects.
  2. Collaborate with sales teams and clients to gather project information and develop creative and functional design solutions that meet the project requirements, aesthetic and budget.
  3. Able to take abstract information and apply Steelcase insights/learnings in a way that yields creative/thoughtful applications.
  4. Apply an in-depth knowledge of relevant research, design trends, product, applications and code requirements to act as a trusted healthcare design advisor to sales consultants and clients.
  5. Foster client relationships through healthcare design knowledge, continual support and flawless execution.
  6. Provide continual support to clients for moves, additions and changes to their existing workplace.
  7. Create computer generated design documents including design intent drawings, space plans, furniture typical, furniture plans, installation documents and rendered images to communicate and document design solutions ensuring efficient and accurate installation results.
  8. Produce furniture block plans, space plans, finish palettes, furniture specifications, and installation drawings.
  9. Perform field measures, product inventory and product research as required.
  10. Meet project deadlines and keep accurate records of working time for internal job costing.

Requirements

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 4-year Interior Design or Interior Architecture degree or balance of Associate Degree and applicable experience
  • 5+ years of healthcare project design experience
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare research application, design trends, and code requirements

DESIRED JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • NCIDQ or State certification
  • Furniture dealership background
  • 3+ years of industry experience
  • CET Designer Software experience
  • Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC)
