Job Description

A Shipping Analyst is vital in the manufacturing industry's logistics and supply chain sector, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective movement of goods. This role is responsible for analyzing shipping operations, correcting system errors, facilitating export processing and optimizing processes to enhance productivity and reduce costs. The Shipping Analyst collaborates closely with various departments to streamline operations and improve customer satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.



  • Gather and analyze data related to shipping and logistics to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement specific to manufacturing operations.
  • Assist with strategies to optimize shipping processes, reduce costs, and improve delivery times without compromising the quality of manufactured goods.
  • Monitor the performance of shipping operations, including delivery times, costs, and service quality, and provide regular reports to management within the manufacturing context.
  • Ensure that all shipping activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies applicable to manufacturing.
  • Utilize shipping software and other technological tools to enhance tracking, planning, and reporting capabilities tailored for manufacturing needs.
  • Facilitate the correction of SAP master data and TMS settings for problem shipments to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Serve as a liaison between the shipping department and other departments within the manufacturing organization to ensure smooth operations and address any issues that arise.

Background & Skills

Required (Basic) Qualifications



  • High School diploma or equivalent



Preferred Qualifications



  • Six (6) - months warehouse experience in shipping, receiving or order filling
  • Forklift driving experience
  • Inventory management experience



Job Criteria



  • Ability to read bill of materials.
  • Coordinate short parts with planner.
  • Requires typing and working with computers.
  • Proficiency in shipping related SAP functions, including export processing.


Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands with finger dexterity, handle, or feel objects tools or controls, turn/twist, bend at waist, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear.The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, dept perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
