THE POSITION

Do you have a knack for investigating cases and enforcing standards of laws, rules, and regulations? The Bureau of Enforcement and Investigation (BEI) is looking for a talented and detail-oriented Professional Conduct Investigator 1. This position gives you the opportunity to conduct investigations in regards to allegations for 29 licensing boards and commissions. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Professional Conduct Investigator 1, you will be tasked with planning, coordinating, and conducting investigations regarding the allegations of violations of the standards of conduct, laws, rules, and regulations of the professional and occupational licensing boards. You will have the opportunity to work closely with supervisors and prosecuting attorneys to ensure all factual information is collected. Work involves gathering facts, reviewing and evaluating information, and handling legal documents. Effective communication is key as you may be required to testify at hearings or proceedings, conduct in-person interviews, as well as compile thorough, accurate, and timely reports.
The professional team of investigators assigned to the Scranton Regional Office will provide investigative services to the following counties: Bradford, Cameron, Carbon, Clinton, Columbia, Lackawanna, Lehigh, Luzerne, Lycoming, Monroe, Montour, Northampton, Northumberland, Pike, Potter, Schuylkill, Snyder, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Union, Wayne, and Wyoming. However, an investigator could be assigned an investigation anywhere within the regional offices.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time at the discretion of the program area and supervisors based on operational need. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Scranton.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years as a Regulatory Enforcement Inspector (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Five years of investigative experience; or
  • One year of investigative experience and a bachelor's degree; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that included one year of investigative experience.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires possession of a valid Class C Driver's License.
