JOB TITLE: Network Security Engineer (Senior)

GOVERNMENT AGENCY: Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Infrastructure Services & Back Office Support (ISBOS)

LOCATION: Remote; Employee must reside within a 50-mile radius of Clarksburg, WV in order to be available to come on-site to FBI facilities in Clarksburg, WV for on-call support in the event of an outage or for scheduled maintenance.

POSITION TIMING: Contingent on award; expected contract start date June 2025

ITC is seeking a seasoned Network Security Engineer to support the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division. This role is critical to ensuring the integrity, security, and performance of enterprise-level IT infrastructure supporting one of the nation's most mission-critical environments.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in both networking and cybersecurity, with hands-on experience troubleshooting complex LAN/WAN infrastructures and securing enterprise systems. Responsibilities include managing routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF), implementing VPNs and proxy solutions, and conducting system security assessments. You will design and enforce information assurance policies, lead security monitoring and tuning efforts, and support system certification and accreditation activities.

This position requires strong proficiency in Linux/Unix systems, network protocols, and Agile development methodologies. An active Top Secret clearance is required, and previous FBI program experience is highly desirable for seamless integration into CJIS operations.



Responsibilities

    Troubleshoot complex LAN/WAN infrastructure that includes routing protocols BGP, EIGRP and OSPF, VPNs, web proxy, and XML gateway for enterprise web services.
  • Work on different networking concepts and routing protocols like BGP, EIGRP, DMVPN and other LAN/WAN technologies.
  • Recommends enterprise information assurance and security standards.
  • Helps to develop and implement information assurance/security standards and procedures.
  • Recommends and evaluates security programs.
  • Identifies information assurance/security solutions to support customers' requirements.
  • Identifies, reports, and resolves security violations.
  • Satisfies information assurance and security requirements based upon the analysis of user, policy, regulatory, and resource demands.
  • Support customers at the highest levels in the development and implementation of doctrine and policies.
  • Perform a variety of systems engineering tasks and activities that are broad in nature and are concerned with major systems design, integration, and implementation, including personnel, hardware, software, budgetary, and support facilities and/or equipment.
  • Applies know-how to government and commercial common user systems, as well as to dedicated special purpose systems requiring specialized security features and procedures.
  • Performs analysis, design, and development of security features for system architectures.
  • Analyzes and defines security requirements for computer systems which may include mainframes, workstations, and personal computers.
  • Assists with design, development, engineering, and implementing solutions that meet security requirements.
  • Provide integration and implementation of the computer system security solution.
  • Analyze general information assurance-related technical problems and provides basic engineering and technical support in solving these problems.
  • Perform vulnerability/risk analyses of computer systems and applications during all phases of the system development life cycle.
  • Ensure that all information systems are functional and secure.
  • Perform system security tuning, security monitoring, general and privileged user account management, and reviewing all COTS software products upgrades and patches, including operating systems.
  • Design and execute security system tests.
  • Support all systems/services certification and accreditation activities.


Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Experience: Minimum of eight years working experience with two years of current experience in supporting and troubleshooting various computing devices and operating systems.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proficiency in both networking and cybersecurity technologies and protocols.
    • Experience in managing and troubleshooting Linux or Unix base operating systems.
    • Experience with ALG (RTP, RTSP and FTP, DNS, HTTP), DHCP.
    • Experience working in an Agile organization using Scrum, XP, Kanban, and SAFe.
  • Security Clearance: Active Top Secret clearance.

DESIRED:

  • FBI Program Experience: Prior exposure to FBI IT/Infrastructure programs and operations is highly desirable, as it will allow for a faster integration into the CJIS Division's mission and objectives.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, System Management, Business Administration, or a related field, preferred
  • Certifications:
    • Strong technical background, preferably A+ certified
    • CompTIA Security+ Certified preferred.
    • CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+) certified, or Cisco Certified Cybersecurity Associate (CCCA) preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Candidate must be able to function in general office environment.
