Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as the technical lead for all engineering activities in your assignments. Each day, you will ensure the activities related to all engineering disciplines within the project are executed in an efficient and cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by acting as a design authority for a particular engineering discipline and completing the corresponding engineering assignments. The work model for the role is: hybrid (#Li-Hybrid) and requires travel throughout the year. This role is contributing to the Process Automation Marine Ports business in Houston, TX. There could be flexibility in the living location as long as it's within the Gulf Coast. You will be mainly accountable for: -Coordination: Coordinate with other packages (Power, Drives), Automation sub-packages & third parties (IAS, SIS, Asset Management, HMS), and Technology R&D/P&S (Solutions, requirements), and communicate technical matters to customers and end-customers. -Development: Develop solutions based on system requirements, customize Automation/SCADA for Energy Management, and develop code for HMI and process panels. -Documentation and Testing: Follow up on document handling processes, prepare requirements for FAT, develop system descriptions for propulsion control and PEMS, and create HW & SW testing procedures. -Customization and Programming: Customize Power and Energy Management System applications, Propulsion Control System applications, and develop PLC programming for 800XA, AC800M, and PLC500 with complex sequences of operation. -Network and Components: Develop and customize automation system topology, network components, select Automation cabinet components, finalize BOM, and configure network switches and devices, ensuring experience with IEC61850 and TCP/IP protocols.
Qualifications for the role
- Engineering Degree and 2+ years of experience required
- Experience with ABB 800XA Control Systems is preferred
- Experience with developing and modifying automation cabinets drawings, reviewing BOM, developing communication network topology, identifying interfaces between systems, updating firmware and system information documents, setting up OWS PCs, and providing commissioning checklists for PEMS and propulsion control applications, while maintaining communication with customers, sub-suppliers, and handling logistics is helpful
- Previous experience with the U.S. Coast Guard or U.S. Navy is preferred
- This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. citizen or possess a valid U.S. Green Card due to the activities of the role
