Overview:
Veeco is looking for a Quality Engineer to join our Quality and Customer Experience organization to drive continuous improvement initiatives and support operational effectiveness as we meet and exceed the challenging requirements of our customers. As a Quality Engineer, you will drive a systems approach into critical quality processes, consistent with the expectations of customers in the semiconductor industry and ISO 9001:2015. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, manufacturing, and supply chain to ensure quality for new and existing products. Additionally, you will be expected to deploy and utilize key performance metrics to monitor, identify and drive opportunities for improvement at both a product and process level. Reporting to the Director of Quality, this position will engage across the broad spectrum of quality operations with the right candidate being a self-motivated individual with strong communication skills, who is able prioritize tasks effectively and who thrives in a fast-paced environment where the development of practical business processes enables data-based decision-making is valued.

Responsibilities:
- Implement and utilize key performance metrics to enable continuous improvement. Conduct trend analysis, execute and drive analytical problem solving, recommend and implement root cause and corrective actions and support failure analysis investigations.
- Lead and support cross-functional teams, working collaboratively to solve critical quality issues.
- Conduct inspections of sub-assemblies and final assemblies on the production floor in support of Operations.
- Engage with production personnel and production processes to systemically identify areas for improvement and lead root causes corrective actions.
- Participate in business process improvement projects that influence the quality of Veeco products and services and serve to exceed the expectations of our customers.
- Collect information for the summary reports and present to management and leadership teams on the status of top quality issues, key performance metrics, customer satisfaction, improvement initiatives and quality system performance.
- Participate and support ISO9001 internal auditor activities as required.
- Partner effectively with key suppliers and contract manufacturers to leverage failure analysis into learning that benefits both Veeco and the customer experience.
- Establish, implement and maintain the Quality Management Systems standardized across the company.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Reliability Engineering or a related field and a minimum of 2 years of related experience ora Master's degree and no experience is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing Statistical Analysis Techniques and Quality Tools (i.e. Gauge R&R, Capability studies, SPC, FMEA, pFMEA, Fish-Bone Analysis, 8D problem solving, etc.). and demonstrated analytical skills driving a data-based approach to solve customer quality issues.
- Capital equipment manufacturing experience especially in the semiconductor industry is highly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience with measuring tools and equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and semiconductor industry requirements preferred.
- High degree of proven self-initiative and ability to think and act independently.
- Exceptional multi-tasking and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Excellent organizational, issue management skills and outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Track record of participating on cross functional teams in 8D and/or quality improvement projects is preferred.
- Excellent verbal, written communication skills, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, with advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt problem solving experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate at various levels including executive.
- Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP Quality and Service Modules is a plus.
- Ability to travel domestic & internationally approximately 10%.
The expected salary range for this position is $67,686.00-$85,735.60, plus a bonus opportunity.
