Compensation

$98,000-$115,000 annually

Job Summary

The Logistics Supervisor will work closely with all the Trucking & Field Operations team and will work directly under the Logistics Manager. The Logistics Supervisor will be responsible for the drivers, truck bosses and will fulfill various roles such as: monitoring timecards, HOS & BOL, managing schedules, monitor driver and truck bosses' productivity, training of drivers and truck bosses, provide feedback and coaching to drivers and truck bosses, brokers and operations on ways to improve efficiency and productivity, etc. Expected competencies include dependability, being action-oriented (pro-active), able to develop the skills of field operations, is customer-focused, and strives to increase technical skills and knowledge. Responsible for assisting the Logistics Manager with safety, driver calls, customer calls, new driver training, and all aspects of the logistics & equipment department.

Main Responsibilities
  • Interviewing, evaluating & disciplining drivers and truck bosses
  • Providing training to drivers (DOT Road Test)
  • Assist Logistics Manager with potential employee recruitment and screening
  • Daily review of driver and truck boss paperwork, data input and data flow for transport related systems and processes
  • Prior to job starting, communicate with the foreman to discuss how trucking for the job is to be coordinated and truck boss needs
  • Should be able to identify alternate routes, or any other opportunities that can help the operation run more efficiently
  • Fill in as Dispatcher as needed
  • Manage dumpsites and help provide location and pricing for field and estimating team
  • HOS/DVIR training for company CMV drivers
  • Conduct weekly safety meetings
  • Oversee and provide training for truck bosses
  • Reviewing HOS and DVIR compliance
  • Maintaining driver qualification files
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
  • Highschool Diploma
  • 5 years' experience in Transportation and Construction preferred
  • Requirement - extensive knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations
  • Preferred - Class A CDL

  • Experience managing union-represented employees
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work as a team and independently
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Highly dependable individual with the capability to multi-task
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job satisfactorily
  • Must be self-motivated, display initiative, be reliable, dependable, and trustworthy
  • Knowledge of Southern California aggregate trucking market is a plus
  • Hold a Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License w/ tanker/Double Endorsements
  • Preferred history/experience in Dump and transporting equipment
  • Strong knowledge of DOT rules and regulations
  • Preferred knowledge of the LA, High Desert Areas
  • Preferred knowledge of the truck routes and local city's trucking requirements (special permits, curfews, etc)
  • Bilingual English / Spanish preferred
  • Minimum 2-years of past trucking, truck boss, logistics, construction experience required
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to utilize hands and fingers in order to type and carry reports should the need require
  • Ability to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands throughout the workday should the need arise
  • Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch should the need arise
  • Ability to sit for a long period of time, possibly more than 90% of the workday
  • Ability to see clearly or with assistance via necessary correction
