Position Overview

Zelis is seeking a Staff Software Engineer with deep expertise in C# and Rust to join our growing engineering team. This is an opportunity to work on sophisticated, high-impact systems that power our core platform, leveraging modern tools and cloud-native technologies in a collaborative, agile environment.

As a senior technical contributor, you'll help evolve and enhance a mature yet complex software ecosystem. You'll mentor other engineers, shape architectural decisions, and bring features from concept to production-building reliable, scalable, and secure systems.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and enhance platform capabilities

  • Lead or support complex software development initiatives from ideation through deployment

  • Contribute to and maintain applications written in C#, Rust, ASP.Net, and SQL/Postgres

  • Participate in code reviews, enforce development best practices, and improve software quality

  • Debug, optimize, and document mission-critical components

  • Coordinate and execute production deployments

  • Prototype and evaluate new technologies to drive continuous innovation

  • Mentor junior engineers and serve as a key technical voice within the team

  • Partner with product and business stakeholders to define requirements and translate them into engineering work

  • Represent engineering perspectives in cross-functional discussions

Technologies You'll Work With

  • Languages: Rust, C#, SQL, ASP.Net

  • Databases: Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL

  • Cloud & DevOps: AWS (SQS, Lambda, RDS, ElastiCache), CI/CD pipelines, GitHub

  • Architecture: Object-Oriented and Functional Design, REST APIs

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience

  • Strong command of Rust, C#, and SQL

  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL and ASP.Net frameworks

  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and serverless architecture

  • Ability to communicate architectural decisions effectively and work across teams

  • Proficiency in Git-based workflows and collaborative development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with additional languages (C++, Python, Java, or Ruby)

  • Familiarity with full-stack development and DevOps practices

  • Exposure to Entity Framework and CI/CD pipelines

  • Background in healthcare or other regulated industries

We have offices in Atlanta GA, Boston MA, Morristown NJ, Plano TX, St. Louis MO, St. Petersburg FL, and Hyderabad, India.
