Full Stack Developer (TEMP)

The Opportunity:

The University of Central Florida's (UCF) Institute for Simulation and Training (IST) is conducting a search for a Full Stack Developer to design, develop, and maintain the software architecture for digital twin applications. This role will ensure seamless communication between system components, optimize application performance, and enhance user interaction. The ideal candidate will work closely with AI/ML engineers, DevOps, and systems engineers to build scalable, efficient, and secure applications that integrate real-time data and digital twin models.

Responsibilities:


  • Develop and maintain both front-end and back-end components of digital twin applications.

  • Design and implement APIs and data pipelines to facilitate integration between system components.

  • Optimize application performance, scalability, and security to support real-time operations.

  • Collaborate with AI/ML engineers, DevOps, and systems engineers to integrate AI models and real-time data processing.

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues to ensure system reliability.

  • Ensure UI/UX consistency and responsiveness across different platforms.

  • Research and evaluate new technologies to improve the digital twin platform.

  • Write technical documentation and provide support for software deployment and maintenance.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • 4+ yrs experience in front-end and back-end technologies (e.g., JavaScript, React, Node.js, Python, or similar).

  • Proficiency with database management systems (SQL, NoSQL) and API development.

  • Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).

  • Understanding of security best practices in web and software development.

  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience working with digital twin applications or large-scale simulation environments.

  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Experience with real-time data processing and WebSockets.

  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture.

This is a Contract and Grant (C&G) funded position.

Due to the nature of the research involved in this position, the ability to obtain a security clearance is preferred.
