Position Summary

The Quality Engineer (QE) supports the establishment, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS). They are responsible for implementing quality assurance processes that enhance operational practices. This position is essential in driving failure prevention and corrective measures and reducing process variability.


Duties And Responsibilities

The Quality Engineer is responsible for leveraging their expertise and applied technologies to:

  • Develop procedures and quality plans in support of customer requirements.
  • Evaluate processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement Quality solutions.
  • Investigate quality failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collect and analyze quality data, identify trends, and initiate improvement actions.
  • Support certification to quality standard and regulations and participate in internal audit program.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by analyzing customer feedback and creating action plans for improvement.
  • Participate in bids and proposals developments by providing input and verifying customer requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with Supplier Quality, Supply Chain and Program Management organization to manage supplier performance.
  • Work with engineering to ensure manufacturability and traceability requirements are met.
  • Function as change agents, using Quality Assurance methods to promote a culture of failure prevention.
  • Utilize Quality programs to integrate quality processes throughout the organization to drive performance improvement and reduce the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) in products and services.
  • Understand human factors and motivation to influence quality outcomes.
  • Develop and manage information systems to track performance, audit quality systems for compliance, and address identified findings and risks.
  • The successful QE will play a critical role in ensuring we consistently deliver high-quality products to our customers, on time and on budget.
  • The QE role is fully aligned with Oceaneering's Quality Mission, which is to ensure flawless conformity to customer requirements by:
  • Delivering processes and tools designed to monitor, inspect, assess, and improve work practices.
  • Developing innovative solutions to be preventative, adaptable, and outperform customer expectations.
  • Driving a culture of, and competence in, continuous improvement.

DUTIES:

  • Lead or participate in Root Cause investigations for significant issues and ensure effective corrective action is implemented to prevent recurrence of discrepancies.
  • Develop inspection and test plans.
  • Perform root cause analysis.
  • Review spec and customer requirements.
  • Develop quality plans, work instructions, internal procedures, and specifications.
  • Lead and participate in Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) events.
  • Exhibit good understanding of the company's QMS and quality requirements.
  • Support quality initiatives that lead to continuous/cost improvements.
  • Understand the creation, reporting, and analysis of quality metrics.
  • Work with internal suppliers, engineering, and subcontractor/suppliers.
  • Train staff.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field. Commensurate and demonstrated experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • 2. 5 years experience in Quality or Quality related roles.

DESIRED :

  • Certifications and applied experience in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Product Lifecycle Management/Product Data Management (PLM/ePDM) systems, and Microsoft Office Suite applications to perform daily tasks.


Additional Information

This position is Hybrid - Remote and will require commuting to a designated office. Hybrid work schedules are determined by the hiring manager based on business need.
