General Purpose of Job: To ensure the availability of food and related departmental supplies. Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Responsible for working with vendors, developing specifications, testing product, acquiring bids and price quotes, as well as ordering food, supplies, paper products, supplements and small utensils daily.
- Receives inventories, organizes and rotates all stock and non-stock food and supplies, reviewing product usage, inventory and order levels.
- Processes invoices to ensure proper price structures. Works with vendors to correct discrepancies in pricing.
- Maintains appropriate inventory levels of all products used in the department.
- Is responsible for the maintenance, sanitation and orderliness of freezers, walk-ins and other food storage areas.
- Provides guidance to Associates assigned to assist with product receipt and distribution.
- Acts a s key communicator with all department associates, managers and suppliers on a daily basis.
- Maintains hospital standards by participating in inservices, committees, continuing education programs, etc.
- Maintain Weekly Order guides with par levels using shelf to sheet methods
- Incorporate technology where applicable to increase job competency/efficiency
Job Requirements
General Requirements |
* Demonstrated organizational ability. Verbal, oral, written and mathematical skills. |
Work Experience |
* 3 years food purchasing experience |
Education |
* High School diploma or G.E.D. * Preferred- Business courses in higher education. |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
* Order processing, Inventory and cost control management. * Demonstrated knowledge of volume food service production and supply acquisition. |
