The Caltech Library is seeking a currently enrolled student or a graduate from a graduate program in archives, library science, museum studies, history, or public history to work as an Archival Processing Intern for a 12-week summer internship. In addition to learning the daily operations of the Archives and Special Collections, the Archival Processing Intern will primarily assist with preserving, arranging, and describing the physical records created for the Mechanical Universe television program. David Goodstein, a former vice-provost and professor in physics and applied physics, created the physics educational program for public television. The Archival Processing Intern will function as a member of the Caltech Archives and Special Collections Department within the Caltech Library and report to the Collections and Metadata Archivist. The mission of Caltech Archives and Special Collections is to facilitate understanding of Caltech's role in the history of science and technology and of the research and lives of its community. This is a part-time, temporary position requiring 15 hours per week for a period of 12 weeks. The agreed upon weekly work schedule is flexible between the hours of 7am to 5pm Monday through Friday.
