WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):

Verify specimen identity and perform DNA extraction from biological specimens. Use multichannel and automated pipetting systems. Perform genotyping of patient and donor specimens using a variety of testing platforms. Maintain inventories for reagents, supplies and equipment and perform equipment maintenance and quality control. Utilize laboratory information management system and web-based customer service request portal. Interact with other departments on matters concerning donor and patient testing and provide support to internal or external customers. Perform work in compliance with regulations and accrediting agency standards. Provide support and guidance to all volunteers.

Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD (Key Responsibilities):

  • Perform manual and automated extraction of high-quality DNA from blood samples or other bodily fluids.
  • Perform genotyping of patient and donor specimens using a variety of testing platforms.
  • Utilize laboratory information management system and web-based customer service request portal.
  • Perform duties associated with the ordering, receiving, inspection and preparation of supplies and reagents. Perform maintenance and quality control of reagents and equipment.
  • Draft reports of testing for supervisor and director review.
  • Attend continuing education sessions and completes required training as assigned.
  • Interact with external and internal customers and ensure customer satisfaction. Mentor other Molecular Technicians as needed.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Education: bachelor's degree in Biological Science or Chemistry required.
  • Experience: 1 year of general laboratory experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • Management Experience: N/A
  • Skills & Abilities: Strong attention to detail. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Computer experience and familiarity with office automation (for example MS Word) desired. Ability to work on a team.

Standard Schedule: M-F 7am-3:30pm

Pay Information: $22-29/hr
