Salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

  • Estimated annual base pay: $75,200(minimum) - $94,000(midpoint) - $112,800(maximum)

Are you ready to make your mark? If you're a Patent Agent, we have an exciting opportunity for you. We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Corporate Patent Agent to join our Legal team. This role plays a critical part in protecting the company's innovations by drafting, filing, and managing patent applications in close coordination with our engineers, inventors, and legal professionals. The ideal candidate will combine technical knowledge, legal insight, and exceptional analytical skills to support and advance our intellectual property strategy.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Prepare Patent Applications: Draft and prosecute US and foreign patent applications with ongoing engagement with engineers and business leaders.
  • Conducting Prior Art Searches: Perform thorough research to identify existing patents and literature, evaluating the novelty and patentability of new inventions.
  • Managing Patent Filings: Coordinate the submission and maintenance of patent applications with IP offices, ensuring all deadlines and requirements are met.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with inventors, engineers, and legal professionals to gather information and support the patent development process.
  • Team Support: Provide informal mentorship and guidance to new team members, helping to enhance their understanding of patent procedures and best practices.

What We Are Looking For

  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of relevant technical fields to effectively draft and prosecute patent applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline preferably mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of patent laws and regulations to ensure compliance and develop sound patent strategies.
  • USPTO Patent Bar registration
  • 2+ year of experience drafting patent applications and prosecuting US and foreign patent applications
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze complex technical and legal information to identify patentable inventions and potential risks.
  • Clear Communication: Skilled at conveying complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Research Proficiency: Strong background in conducting prior art searches and evaluating intellectual property landscapes.
  • Problem Solving: Capable of resolving issues in the application and prosecution process with sound judgment.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple patent projects simultaneously, with a strong focus on deadlines and accuracy.
  • Collaboration: Enjoys working in a team-oriented environment and mentoring peers.
  • Attention to Detail: Maintains high accuracy and quality in all documentation and submissions.
  • Experience in a corporate or in-house role is highly desirable.
