The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

The Advanced Research and Engineering (AR&E) subdivision leads Aerospace support to the R&D portfolio of a National Security Space (NSS) customer. AR&E is seeking a Space Experiments Engineer (Sr. Project Engineer- Multi-Disciplinary Engineering) who will leverage expertise across the corporation to prototype and demonstrate next generation space technologies. In this role, you will provide direct on-site technical support to the customer and manage Aerospace resources to assist in the development and demonstration of advanced space technologies.

Work Model

This is a full-time position based in Chantilly, which requires 100% onsite work.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Experiencing the entire life cycle of a space system, from concept definition through launch and operations, in just a few years.
  • Providing ongoing technical, programmatic, and strategic support of space experiment flight and payload programs.
  • Evaluating the space worthiness and technology maturation paths for new and emerging technologies.
  • Coordinating with partners and stakeholders to facilitate transition of technologies from R&D prototypes into operational use.
  • Tracking and reporting accomplishments to Aerospace and customer management.
  • Supporting close and frequent interactions with government customer, SETA, and contractor personnel.
  • Occasionally traveling, up to 10% of the time.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for the Sr. Project Engineer - Multi-Disciplinary Engineering

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • 10 or more years of relevant experience after Bachelor's degree.
  • Ability to work in a highly dynamic Program Office environment with a mix of government, FFRDC, and SETA personnel.
  • Experience with designing and executing experiments.
  • Experience with the design, build, integration, test, or operation of satellite systems.
  • Excellent program management and organizational skills
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Advanced degree in science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field
  • Experience with R&D in relevant technology areas.
  • Experience with prototyping and/or CubeSats.
  • Technical breadth and ability to rapidly acquire a working knowledge in new technical areas.
