The Role:

We are looking for our next Plant Production Supervisor within our Refinery D Unit.

Roquette is a leader in plant-based ingredients, dedicated to innovation and excellence. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced R&D Process Group Manager to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial in driving our research and development efforts to new heights, ensuring we remain at the forefront of technological advancements.

The Plant Production Supervisor will report to the Plant Production Manager of Refinery C&D, at Roquette America's Keokuk plant site. This position is based at our Keokuk corn-wet milling and bio-refinery facility and requires interaction with both Salaried and Union workforce. The Production lead's focus is on the day-to-day leadership and operation of the assigned plant, supervising and leading skilled, multi-skilled and highly skilled bargaining unit employees, ensuring safe operations, environmental compliance and quality production in RAI's Good Manufacturing Practice food-grade operations.

Compensation:

The current salary range for this role is estimated to be $88,065 - $119,200. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation. The specific compensation offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

What You'll Do:

  • Successfully drives a bargaining unit workforce to safely and efficiently manufacture Food Grade, Excipient Grade, and Pharmaceutical Grade (API) dextrose monohydrate.
  • Successfully communicates with and works alongside peers in Refinery C to ensure seamless receipt of raw materials, utilities, and transfer of byproducts during normal operation and plant startups and shutdowns.
  • Day to day will routinely audit in-process sample results, equipment performance and reliability, and will lead the intervention of process parameters to ensure right first time production.
  • Will participate in and meet all expectations/requirements of an in-house predictive maintenance program that is driven to improve equipment reliability reduce unexpected downtime.
  • Assists with the coordination of the day to day production operations of a defined area of assigned plant, providing leadership and direction in the day to day activities for the area of responsibility.
  • Actively participates in the plant safety programs, reviewing and enforcing compliance with all safety and health regulations, providing safety training, completing action items necessary for safety and health compliance, and investigating any safety problem or accident within department.
  • Contributes to and supports the operation of plant equipment to maximize productivity and meet production schedule/output targets; providing operational and technical support to the operators.
  • Provides leadership and facilitates problem resolution, resource utilization and timesheet approvals, facilitates the training and qualification process and participates in the performance review process for all operational reports.
  • Investigates day-to-day employee relations problems; collaborating with Human Resources to resolve behavioral and disciplinary situations grounded on Company policy and employment law.
  • Assists with resolution of scheduling and vacancy conflicts and reviews for approval or denial vacation requests
  • Monitors established performance indicators, including variance reports, production reports, quality reports, injury reports, equipment utilization reports, and overtime performance.
  • Knowledgeable of and works in compliance with Union Contract(s), handling complaints, grievances, and counseling as required.
  • Ensure that all employees understand and follow standard operating procedures, plant operation, and equipment maintenance requirements through training programs and control systems. Also communicates special instructions to operators when required and enforces all plant rules and regulations.
  • Performs project work contributing to less complex assignments and performing smaller pieces of larger project initiatives to improve the reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement of plant operations.
  • Contribute to engineering project implementation on familiar topics with awareness of project costs, progress and quality.
  • Lead and coordinate plant shutdowns, including coordination of plant personnel tasks and ensuring all equipment is safely shut down and isolated during shutdown procedures, to prepare for a safe and successful startup operation.
  • Drives the team to execute good housekeeping practices contributing to maintenance of assigned plant area and addresses potential issues with follow up and action items.
  • Complies with hazardous waste programs and hazard material identification systems, performing actions in compliance with the program as required.
  • Execute quality audit requirements.
  • Networks with engineers and production leads locally and regionally to maintain, build and share knowledge of technical innovations and to leverage knowledge on plant operations.
  • Contributes to operational and technical support initiatives in all of the Roquette plants as needed, supporting process focused and individual focused initiatives.
  • Maintain positive customer relations to ensure continued satisfaction; work closely with the customer on quality and/or supply issues as needed, either individually or in team settings, attend meetings and participate in improvement teams.
  • Support the quality and analytical teams in all areas of quality control and analysis including process improvements, sampling and manufacturing techniques and raw material approval.

What You'll Need:

  • BS Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical engineering or equivalent experience
  • 3 years or more of relatable food or continuous processing industrial facility experience
  • 3 years or more of leadership or supervisory experience
  • 1 year preferred of relatable food or continuous processing industrial facility experience
  • Knowledge and leadership application of safety, environmental regulatory compliance and people management.
  • Demonstrated mechanical equipment and production process operations understanding and aptitude.
  • Knowledge of crafts-peoples' capabilities to facilitate assigning maintenance work.
  • Production process operations and administrative business (policies, procedures, programs, principles, and bargaining unit contract) knowledge including how to assess safe and unsafe actions, environmental soundness, product quality and integrity, efficiencies, yields, volumes, material usage, and project/coordinate shipments. Understands Key Performance Indicators.
  • Moderate to high level understanding of process controls including distributed control systems (DCS) and programmable linear controllers (PLC) as they pertain to control of production processes.
  • Demonstrated sound, assertive, positive interpersonal, leadership, coaching, counseling/disciplining and training skills. Effective people management and motivational skills to achieve targeted results and develop personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate the plant-wide to maximize efficiency, align with business needs, ensure production plans are met.
  • Ability to effectively plan, prepare for, lead and effectively facilitate meetings.
  • Strong computer skills in Word, Outlook, Excel, and SAP. Basic skills in Power Point.
  • Effective organizational, planning and multi-tasking skills.Supervisory Responsibility
