The General, a subsidiary of Sentry Insurance, is currently seeking motivated individuals to join our team in an entry-level role focused on property and casualty claims. In this role, you'll play a key part in investigating claims, determining liability, gathering essential information, and reviewing coverage details. As part of your journey, you'll participate in hands-on training to build strong investigation and settlement skills while gaining valuable insight into our company's processes and values.

This role will be filled following our hybrid work model at our Nashville, TN; El Paso, TX; Davenport, IA; or Stevens Point, WI office.

What You'll Do

As an Associate Desk Adjuster, you will:

  • Attends a new employee training program that includes claim processing in various systems, policy and procedures, and company culture and its application to the Claim environment as needed

  • Investigates origin and cause of claims by contacting the appropriate parties including insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, special investigation unit, other adjusters, public personnel, etc.

  • Handles files with limited authority based on management discretion.

  • May be required to complete other assignments, job duties, or participate in projects based upon skills, achievements, or experience.

What it Takes

  • Ability to obtain and maintain state specific property and casualty claims licensing as required

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of claim handling processes

  • Customer service or support experience preferred

  • Can meet travel requirements as needed

  • Ability to work in conditions involving sitting/standing
