Sr. Advanced Systems Engineer
Seeking a candidate who is experienced in planning missions, documenting system interfaces, and modeling how complex systems interact across functional threads.

As a Systems Engineer on the SDA GMI program, you will join a cross-functional team responsible for developing and deploying a state-of-the-art ground operational system.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform requirements analysis, definition, and management; functional and performance analysis; system design; trade studies; integration and test (verification/validation); and interface definition.
  • Conduct technical planning, cost/risk analysis, and supportability/effectiveness evaluations for subsystems and system elements.
  • Analyze customer requirements, derive system-level requirements, and allocate them to components and subsystems.
  • Perform detailed technical analyses of subsystems and elements.
  • Design and evaluate systems, networks, and information systems to ensure compliance with government security specifications.
  • Support system security through accreditation/certification testing and documentation development for new and fielded systems.
  • Participate in modeling and simulation activities.
  • Research and analyze COTS components, vendor products, GFE/CFE, specifications, and manuals for feasibility assessments.
  • Use standard engineering tools, processes, and procedures throughout the system development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to the completion of major programs and projects by planning and executing assigned tasks.
  • Define technical processes, system specifications, I/O parameters, and compatibility for hardware/software integration.
  • Exercise sound judgment in selecting methods and techniques for problem-solving.
Job Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering or Science or Engineering or Mathematics.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience with System design including Use Case and thread-based modeling for SW messaging systems.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience with Satellite communications.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience with Ground to Satellite communication
  • Minimum 8 years of Ground operations experience
  • Minimum 8 years of experience with designing, coding, or modeling satellite contact planning systems.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience with Interface Control Document (ICD) authoring through the system design thru Integration phase of program

Preferred Skills:

  • Agile experience
  • Creative, innovative responsibilities requiring advanced decision-making skills
  • Multi-level security domain expertise (and cross-domain)
  • Quickly (with a more agile light-weight approach) decomposing requirements to a level that can avoid requirements bloat (and communicate/track impacts)
  • People with agile program experience
