Description

The Semel Institute is seeking to hire a part time Senior Associate Director to oversee all levels of the research and other program development associated with the Ecological Medicine & Psychedelic Studies Initiative (EMPSI) also known as Project ReConnect. The position is responsible for collaborating with the Director as well as other lead Principal Investigators to develop the strategic mission and vision, programs and operations of the institute.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Fundraising including developing proposals and managing relationships with donors and foundation staff.
  • Developing and administering the policies, processes and financial resources.
  • Developing strategic direction for individual projects and programs, to include managing large multimillion dollar projects.
  • Independently oversees the day-to-day operations, all personnel actions and decisions, as well as administrative and finance support staff.
The position acts with a high degree of autonomy, making decisions based on review and analysis of projects and best practices in conjunction with university policy.

Full time pay range: $83,800.00 - $179,400.00 annually.

Qualifications
  • Education and experience in operational leadership
  • Experience in managing all operational aspects associated with the implementation of complex research and/or service projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of human resources management to interpret and implement complex personnel policies and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze information from several sources in order to discern the relevant facts and determine the most appropriate course of action.
  • Experience in establishing rapport and professional credibility with a variety of stakeholders, including project managers, project staff, University department leaders, consultants, and funding agency personnel.
  • Demonstrated experience working with University and funding agency departments, including Human Resources, and Contracts and Grants.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Advanced written communication and verbal skills.
  • Solid problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced knowledge and skill in research finances and identifying funding opportunities.
  • Knowledge of public and private grant proposals
  • Advanced skill and experience in developing budgets and budget justifications.
  • Skill in writing manuscripts, reports and other publications for various audiences.
  • Previous experience and expertise in serving as an administrative supervisor for multiple personnel and/or contractors.
  • Skill in managing planning processes that involve staff with diverse backgrounds and skills
