Job Title: Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant - Orthopedic Surgery Location: Detroit, MI Department: Orthopedics Reports To: Supervising Orthopedic Surgeon Inpatient/Outpatient: 100% inpatient Case Load: Adults, very rare pediatric cases (if so, traumas), elective and consultations. Position Overview: Seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic orthopedic team at our Level 1 Trauma Comprehensive Stroke Center. This inpatient-only role, scheduled for four 10-hour shifts from 6 AM to 4 PM, focuses on providing comprehensive care to patients with musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background in orthopedics, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Inpatient rounding, postoperative care and management of elective surgeries, consultations. Ortho exp. Required - will accept new grads with ortho surgery background as RN Schedule - 6a-4p Weekend requirement - Yes, every 4th currently. Call requirement - No call requirement. OR Time - No. In collaboration with a physician, provides for the expansion of individualized primary healthcare services by diagnosing and treating certain acute or chronic health conditions. Responsibilities: Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care.| Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.| Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.| Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy. Qualifications: * NP - Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) * PA - Completion of a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) * NP - Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan * PA - Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Licensure and Certification * Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan, or in process of applying (must have proof of application) * National certification as an NP or PA (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA) * Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required. * Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. * DEA/CSL, required through credentialing. Experience * Ortho exp. Required * EPIC Experience, preferred. Skills * Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. * Commitment to patient-centered are and continuous professional development.
