Job Description

The Sr. Accounting Analyst is a proactive leader in finance operations, responsible for designing, enhancing, and championing efficient, data-driven processes across the department. This role leads the development and adoption of tools and automation solutions, identifies opportunities for continuous improvement, and ensures reporting and analytics are timely, accurate, and insightful. With strong ownership and expertise, the Sr. Accounting Analyst operates with minimal oversight, acting as a subject matter expert and key contributor to strategic decision-making within the department.

Essential Dudites and Responsibilities

  1. Lead the development and ownership of reporting tools derived from ERP system data to drive insight, action, and accountability across the department.
  2. Independently identify, design, and implement process improvements and automation tools that enhance operational efficiency, reduce exceptions, and streamline workflows.
  3. Develop and deliver training, tools, and documentation to equip team members with the knowledge and resources needed to resolve issues effectively and consistently.
  4. Act as a subject matter expert and advisor on ERP systems and financial process improvements; monitor system performance and lead enhancements to optimize business outcomes.
  5. Collaborate cross-functionally to solve business challenges and ensure alignment between system capabilities and business needs, promoting best practices and ERP functionality across teams.
  6. Conduct audits and reviews to validate payment accuracy and process compliance, taking ownership of timely issue resolution and improvement recommendations.
  7. Own the department's reporting cadence, ensuring leadership has the visibility needed through timely standard and ad-hoc reports and dashboards.
  8. Support strategic initiatives and special projects, applying analytical thinking and leadership to deliver impactful results.
  9. Lead the development and ownership of reporting tools derived from ERP system data to drive insight, action, and accountability across the department.
Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in a business-related or technical field, or equivalent professional experience.

Related Experience:

5+ years of experience in an analytical role within accounting or financial operations (A/P, A/R, G/L). Strongly preferred experience includes process improvement initiatives, automation projects, and ERP system usage and optimization.

Equipment/Software Skills:

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new system applications. Experience working with databases and exporting data to Excel; familiarity with SQL and other database languages is preferred.

Physical:

Limited physical activity; primarily sitting for extended periods with occasional walking throughout the building for team interactions.

Sensory:

Visual activities include reading detailed financial documents and working with computer systems for extended periods. Hearing and speaking are essential for interacting with colleagues and implementing payment-related solutions.

Mental/Reasoning:

High level of learning, reasoning and analytical skills.

Ability to analyze processes and supplier invoice data, identify discrepancies, and use reasoning to develop approaches to effectively manage exceptions.
