As the Environmental Department Manager, you will oversee all projects within the department are executed on time and in a manner that provides a positive client experience. Supervise the preparation of proposals and cost estimates to ensure proper scoping of services, availability of resources, and pricing to achieve desired profitability. Supervise daily department operations including staff development, utilization of equipment and facilities, safety oversight, project quality, timely delivery, and adherence to policies and procedures. Plan for and participate in business development activities to identify, develop, win, and execute project opportunities, while building and maintaining client relationships.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
The Environmental Department Manager will work with our Northern Colorado Operations Manager to lead our team of Environmental Professionals and will perform the following duties:
  • Prepare and execute the department growth strategy and annual business plan.
  • Actively partner with client development staff and leaders from other service lines to grow business with existing clients and develop new clients and business opportunities.
  • Lead talent recruitment and selection efforts to support business needs and strategic growth.
  • Direct efforts associated with training, mentoring, and development of staff.
  • Routinely track key department performance metrics of revenue growth, staff chargeability, project billing and collections, and project profitability.
  • Identify and mitigate project-related risks, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry best practices.
  • Lead safety efforts for team. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment. Promotes pre-task planning for all projects.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in technical discipline practiced by the Firm including but not limited to Engineering, Environmental Science or Geology and 8 years of practice experience.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
Preferred Certification:
  • Graduate degree
  • Professional certification or licensure in field of expertise

Terracon anticipates paying $115,000 to $138,000 within the salary range for this position.
