The Department of Dermatology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center invites applicants for a full-time Nurse Practitioner position, with a predominant focus on Clinical Dermatology and Cosmetics to join our Columbia Doctors site located on our main campus in Washington Heights, with potential for practice in midtown Manhattan or the future Westchester campus.

In this role, you will serve as a trusted clinician for patients for their general dermatologic & cosmetic needs working with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

* Evaluate patients' skin health history.
* Perform physical examinations focusing on the skin.
* Diagnosing various skin conditions and diseases such as acne, dermatitis, skin cancer, etc.
* Prescribe appropriate medications or treatments for skin ailments.
* Perform minor dermatological procedures such as biopsies, cryotherapy, or chemical peels and cosmetic procedures.
* Collaborate with dermatologists and other healthcare professionals for complex cases.
* Educating patients about preventative care for skin health.
* Provide post-treatment and post-operative care instructions.
* Maintain patient records and documentation.
* Stay updated on latest advancements in dermatology.
* Advise patients on lifestyle changes to improve skin health.
* Perform general administrative functions, and related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

* Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing (MSN/DNP) from an accredited program; plus, three years of experience.
* Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in the applicable state.
* Board/National certification as an NP (e.g., WHNP, FNP, or ANP).
* Current DEA license for prescribing medications, including controlled substances (as required.
* Basic Life Support Certification for all Nurse Practitioners who provide direct patient care.
* Requires an individual who takes pride in working with patients and provides highly personalized care.

Preferred Qualifications

* Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical experience as an NP/PA, preferably in Medical Dermatology and Cosmetics.
* Effective interpersonal and communication skills required.
