Position Overview

Job Responsibilities

Study Administration (50%)
* Contribute to the designing and conducting of original research projects
* Assist with submitting applications of protocols to Institutional Review Board
* Maintain databases pertinent to appropriate research studies
* Analyze and manage research data (reduction and statistical analysis)
* Assist in the organization and direction of undergraduate students who participate in daily activities

Preparation and Presentation of Reports and Manuscripts (25%)
* Using data collected, assist with preparing and submitting manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals
* Assist in writing and submitting research findings for publication
* Assist with preparing grants to be submitted from the clinical research laboratory
* Prepare data to be presented at national and international conferences

Collaboration with Other Investigators Studies (15%)
* Collaborate on reports, papers, and publications when appropriate

Laboratory Management (10%)
* Assist with general direction of the laboratory
* Organize laboratory activities (meetings, journal clubs, etc.)

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree
* Registered in a graduate degree program at the School of Kinesiology at the U of M
* Background in physiological research or related field & ability to collaborate effectively with people from a variety of communities, backgrounds, and identities.
* Ability to work as a member of a team

Preferred Qualifications
* Ability to work independently
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong orientation to detail and strong organizational skills

Department Overview

The School of Kinesiology focuses on the biological, developmental, social, and behavioral bases of physical activity, recreation, sport and human performance through its programs in kinesiology, recreation and leisure students, and sport studies. The degree programs in the School prepare students for a variety of professional opportunities in both the public and private sector. The fields of teaching, community service, allied health, industry and business are career paths that graduates of our programs may anticipate as avenues of employment and further professional training.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: The salary range for this position is $27.00 an hour. Final salary offers are dependent on the candidate's experience, skills, and internal equity within the department.

Time Appointment: Hourly appointment, timecards will be submitted

Position Type: Temporary/Casual
