Job Summary

Lead actuarial analyses, pricing strategies, reserving, reinsurance and predictive modeling efforts to drive data-driven decision-making. The Actuary will collaborate with underwriting, finance, claims, and senior leadership to optimize business performance and ensure regulatory compliance.

This position offers both remote and hybrid work locations. Candidates who reside within 50 miles of an office location (West Bend, Madison, Appleton) will be offered a hybrid work schedule. Candidates who are fully remote (beyond 50 miles) may occasionally be asked to travel to an office location for in-person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and corporate events.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Property and Casualty Reserving Actuary to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with a solid understanding of actuarial principles and practices related to property and casualty insurance. This role is essential in ensuring the accuracy of reserve estimation and overall reserve management.

Key Responsibilities:

    Estimate reserves for outstanding and incurred but not reported (IBNR) claims.

  • Analyze data to support reserve calculations and identify emerging trends.

  • Evaluate risk and provide recommendations for reserve adjustments.

  • Prepare detailed reports outlining reserve estimates, assumptions, and methodologies.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and actuarial standards.

  • Collaborate closely with underwriting, claims, finance, and other departments.

  • Develop and enhance actuarial models for reserve calculations.

  • Monitor and review reserve levels to ensure adequacy and consistency.

  • Clearly communicate reserve changes and insights to key stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.

  • ACAS or FCAS actuarial designation required.

  • Experience with property and casualty reserving preferred.

  • Proficiency in actuarial tools and software, including Excel, SAS, R, and/or Python.

  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.

  • Effective team player with excellent communication skills.

  • Demonstrated adaptability and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Commitment to high ethical standards and maintaining confidentiality.



Salary Statement

The salary range for this position is $135,920-$169,911.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. Compensation decisions are made by West Bend and are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
