The Children's Home of Poughkeepsie has been caring for children throughout the Hudson Valley for over 175 years! We strive to empower children and families to achieve optimal health and well being. We are currently seeking a Residence Supervisor to work in our Long Term Foster Care Program.

Position Summary:

The Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and evaluation of staff on their unit. The Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the children, the daily living activities and routines of the unit, documentation and the care of the physical unit. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring agency standards are met, including the quality of activities. The Supervisor assures that the interactions between adults and children are positive and conducive to meeting UC/UM goals. The Supervisor is responsible for maintaining oversight of all unit activities and assigns tasks to staff as needed.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:



  1. Responsible for orientation, supervision, and evaluation of all staff, interns, and volunteers assigned to the UC/UM Program.
  2. Responsible for scheduling staff assigned to LTFC houses.
  3. Responsible for coordinating staff coverage and transportation logistics during medical, school, outings, religious services and all other escorts.
  4. Responsible for the development of daily activities assigning and reassigning responsibilities for all staff for whom they are responsible.
  5. Creating the outing and activities calendar for youth in program, on a monthly basis.
  6. Ensuring all youth have access to practice the religion of their preference and scheduling religious services for youth, as appropriate for each individual.
  7. Creates and schedules recreation activities for all youth in the program, in accordance with ORR expectations .
  8. Purchases food items that meet the appropriate dietary requirements.
  9. Responsible for the requesting and oversight of funds designated for youth personal needs, such as hygiene items, clothing, haircuts, etc.
  10. Ensures the safety of the youth at all times.
  11. Provides a structured, caring and trauma informed environment for youth in care.
  12. Monitors staff assisting youth with personal needs.
  13. Administers and/or supervises administration of medications in the absence of the nurse.
  14. Carries out goals and objectives as outlined for each youth in accordance to their treatment plan, if applicable.



Schedule: Wednesday through Saturday 12pm-10pm

Qualifications

MINIMUM:



  • Associates Degree; minimum 2 years child care experience; experience beyond 2 years combined with a High School Diploma or equivalent may be used to offset education requirements.
  • Valid New York State Driver's License with good driving record as determined by the Agency.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English and/or any other language as determined relevant to the UC population.
  • Must be willing to travel within the U.S. if needed for child-sponsor reunification.



PREFERRED:



  • BA/BS Degree
  • CPR and First Aid certificates
  • Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Trainer
