Description

The Children's Home of Poughkeepsie has been caring for children throughout the Hudson Valley for over 175 years! We strive to empower children and families to achieve optimal health and well being. We are currently seeking a Program Director to work in our HSPRS Program.

Position Summary:

The Program Director serves as the main liaison between the agency, the Office of Refugee Resettlement and employees throughout each region. This position is responsible for the entire program and its outcomes, which includes but is not limited to: oversight of program services, programmatic structure and fiscal review for the services provided in the HSPRS program in addition to writing policies and high level reports.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:



  1. Oversees the safe and timely facilitation of Home Study and Post Release Services for Unaccompanied Children.
  2. Ascribes to the agency's mission and provides quality care for youth and families while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  3. Ensures all services are carried out in a way that promotes and protects child safety and child-welfare best practices.
  4. Is sensitive to and supportive of the children, family and staff's cultural and ethnic heritage and values.
  5. Ensures that all children and families are treated with dignity and respect in a culturally competent manner.
  6. Oversees the day to day operations of all support services within the program, including but not limited to: Case Management, Clinical Services, general service delivery, travel logistics, program data, reporting and clerical tasks.
  7. Manages the program's finances, including the development and revision of budgets, as needed.
  8. Engages in effective communication and collaboration with the Project Officer, Federal Field Specialists and other program stakeholders.
  9. Facilitates and/or oversees the development of program trainings and professional development initiatives for all parts of the program.
  10. Writes policies and procedures as they relate to program operations and funding requirements.
  11. Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of all case files and documentation in accordance with ORR requirements.
  12. Works closely with the performance and quality improvement team to monitor and improve the effectiveness of the program's operations.
  13. Facilitates and participates in multidisciplinary team conferences and meetings.
  14. Collaborates with other department Directors to ensure that the program has all necessary components to facilitate a safe operation.



Schedule: Monday through Friday 9am-5pm, with on call responsibilities

Qualifications

MINIMUM Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology or other related field.
  • 5 years' experience in a child welfare agency
  • 2 years of experience in program management or as a director of a licensed child care program
  • Experience conducting home visits
  • Knowledge of Social Service Systems
  • Bilingual Spanish-English
  • Valid NYS Driver License in good condition as determined by the Agency
  • Must complete and pass a pre-employment physical, PPD and drug screen and an annual physical and PPD screening.



PREFERRED Qualifications:



  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or other related field
  • LMSW or LCSW strongly preferred
  • Experience managing projects
  • Financial and managerial experience
  • Related ORR experience and/or case management experience
  • Appropriate licensure or eligibility for licensure
