Spectra Tech, Inc. is hiring for a Senior Quality Control Engineer in Aiken, South Carolina!

DUTIES:
Provide quality control support to the project team and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and accurately track results. Perform construction quality control inspection and surveillance activities in support of project and/or maintenance work.

Safety is a primary responsibility in every task. Complete safety training, follow all safety rules, and make safety a key part of every assignment. Stop work if continuing would create an unsafe condition.

Review design output documents per approved procedures to establish inspection requirements in quality assurance procedures, construction plans, and/or work packages. Coordinate with internal and external parties to resolve quality issues and report inspection/test activity statuses.

Review technical criteria, personnel qualifications, and work sequences on work packages, including noting hold points before inspections. Perform or direct inspection activities by subordinate QC engineers and inspection personnel as assigned. Assist in resolving issues with codes, specifications, and drawings.

Perform or supervise inspections, witness tests, and surveillance activities, and document the results. Assess completeness of construction activities and quality verification documentation prior to preparing quality control releases for turnover.

Review subcontractors' quality programs for compliance with procedures, attend mobilization meetings, and monitor activities for proper implementation. Review supplier and subcontractor quality verification documents for traceability and specification compliance. Assess and track subcontractor costs, manpower, and materials. Approve subcontract invoices and applications for payment.

Work Hours:
A 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRNS uses various schedules including:

  • 5/8s (8 hours/day, five days/week)
  • 4/10s (10 hours/day, four days/week)
  • 9/80s (9 hours/day; five days one week, four days the next)

Work weeks exclude SRNS holidays. Each workday includes a 30-minute lunch. Overtime may be required to meet deliverables and is at the Manager's discretion.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and 5-7 years of practical experience in construction inspection or related areas.
  • Associate's degree and 7-9 years of experience may be considered equivalent.
  • High school diploma and 10-14 years of experience may also be considered equivalent.
  • Certification and ongoing technical training are required for performing inspections and surveillance activities.
  • Specialized training may be needed for specific technical areas.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Area Security Access: Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance. An active clearance is not required at the start but will be needed depending on assignment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the last two years
  • At least 7 years of experience in quality control for construction projects
  • At least 2 years of experience on projects requiring NQA-1 pedigree
