Quality Specialist

Position Type: Direct Hire

Position Location: Commerce, CA

Position Salary: $70,000 - $85,000

Responsibilities:



  • Position responsible for initiating new item master, specification numbers.
  • Manages the weekly specification meeting.
  • Act as the interface between Sales/Marketing and Quality to assure that customer specifications are accurately and completely converted into internal documents.
  • Acts as process owner of the "input" side of the specification process. This includes but not limited to raw material specifications, Wind-up, startup conditions, blender sheets and internal specifications.
  • Manages the document change control as a system administrator.
  • Has the authority to change the revision level of specification within the QAD system.
  • Quality representative during R&D trial activities. Responsible for vision systems Quality evaluations (creating X&Y data, Sunburn etc.).
  • Receives drawings and/or specifications from customer and transfers through company specification process
  • Manages spec review meetings to assure specifications are implemented in a timely fashion
  • Interfaces with customer and obtains specification approval as appropriate
  • Updates QAD as appropriate for initiation or change to specification, Bill-of-materials, wind ups, and blender sheets
  • Participates in customer complaint process as appropriate
  • Facilitates coordination of new formats to all manufacturing/quality documents
  • Manages electronic document management system (EQMS)
  • Identifies basic quality issues as related to document structure, format or change control
  • Review Vision System output data for final disposition. Participates in internal audits as assigned.
  • Participates in Customer audits
  • Participates in annual cost roll-up activities in QAD for each active item number (coordinated by Finance)
  • Supports the QC function as a backup for in-process inspection.
  • Comprehension of all relevant quality management system factors and documents that refer to the job category and the awareness by the individual of their relevance and importance. That includes but is not limited to, understanding of the Quality Policy, how the individual's performance contributes to meeting of the Critical Success Factors and specific job category or position related procedures.


Requirements:



  • Associates degree or equivalent work experience; Higher education a plus
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar background or role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experienced in an ISO or FDA regulated industry a plus.
  • Previous internal audit experience or training helpful
  • Familiarity in regulatory compliance regarding medical formulations and medical devices.
  • Familiarity with Quality Systems and all procedures relative to the position.
  • Proficient in the use of computers, electronic systems, and appropriate statistical applications.
  • Must demonstrate basic elements of team participation including diversity, use of creative-thinking tools in a team environment
  • General understanding of computerized document systems (QAD/CEEBOS)
  • Ability to speak and comprehend the English language as determined through appropriate testing and/or the interview process.
  • Able to read and comprehend and to legibly write the English language as determined through appropriate testing and/or the interview process.
  • Mathematics and reasoning skills as determined through applicable aptitude and achievement tests.
  • Ability to communicate directly with customers in a professional and technical manner

The base pay range above represents the low and high end of the base compensation range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual base compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, actual experience, and job performance.
