Nursing Research Scientist Job Responsibilities:
- Participates actively on Institutional Review Boards to review proposed research while collaborating with the Grants Management Office to identify and participate in writing grants.
- In collaboration with the Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice Lead, ensures that projects are planned, managed and completed efficiently. Publishes and presents findings from research studies at local and national programs.
- Mentors nurses in proposal development, abstract writing and completion of research and evidence-based practice projects. Performs ongoing data collection, monitoring and assessment of project achievements to support targeted goals and outcomes.
- Prepares background information and supports research for publications, articles and internal/external communication.
- Publishes and presents findings from research studies at local and national programs.
- Identifies and tracks nursing research priorities and projects for the system.
- Participates and coordinates multicenter and multidisciplinary research activities.
- Encourages direct care staff participation in nursing research by acting as an expert resource and mentor for staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Nursing Research Scientist Additional Requirements:

- Education: Masters Degree in Nursing
- Experience: 2 years Nursing Research
- Certification: Inova Health System approved national nursing certification in quality or clinical specialty; Licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse
Nursing Research Scientist Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: PhD in Nursing or DNP
